Hello Homeowners,
What an amazing summer we’ve had! I hope you’ve had time for vacations, family time, and barbecues with friends and neighbors. From our Concerts in the Park to the Ramona Fair and Rodeo, there has been plenty to do. We have more on the horizon.
The Annual Classic Car Show is just around the corner. Car show registrations are already full, and we now have a waiting list. Mark your calendar for Saturday, Sept. 20, starting at 5 pm, and come enjoy the showcase of classic cars and the passionate owners behind them. The evening will also feature live music by popular local band Cool Rush.
Did you know that next Saturday, September 13, our local Fire Station is having an Open House? Station #80 on San Vicente Road will be open to the public from 10 am to 1 pm. Plan to go out and meet the people who do so much to protect our families, homes, and community. Check out the details below.
One other event to consider is the Gymkhana at Casey Tibbs Western Center next
Saturday, Sept. 13. It's the first event in a family-friendly 3-show Buckle Series. While many of our residents own horses, many of us do not. Come out and experience gymkhana - timed events for the horse and rider team to test their skill as they ride through a number of obstacles set up in various patterns.
I am pleased to report that we are making progress on a number of projects. As you know, we’ve had long-standing issues with the installation of the “Lift” at the clubhouse. I have witnessed that all of the components are in place and functioning well. We’ve contacted the county and are just waiting for the final inspection for the permit.
We continue to see signs of our aging infrastructure and the numerous items that need to be replaced. We do our best to extend the useful life of the components, but sometimes there is no option but to replace them. As such, the San Vicente Resort roof project has begun, and we look forward to completion within the specified timelines. More on that project in the coming weeks.
I want you to know that I do not look for “Band-Aid” solutions for our longstanding issues and components that need to be repaired or replaced. I look for value-based decisions when it comes to the Association. Value is a combination of ROI, quality of product, quality of installation, longevity/lifespan of the materials used, and price. Doing the job right and investigating the best options takes time. I’d rather get things done right, for the long term. In my opinion, we have taken the cheap and fast route to solving/repairing issues. We are paying the price for too many Band-Aids used in the past.
I am pleased to be working with my managers, the Director of Financial Operations, our Treasurer, and the Budget Development Committee, to create an appropriate budget for the Board to review and consider this fall. I want the best for the Association. I know that you do as well. Step by step, project by project, and day by day, we will continue to do what makes sense to make SDCEA the best that it can be.
Thanks again for helping us make San Diego Country Estates the best it can be!
Thank you, Carl Weise, GM
