Valley Star Behavioral Health’snew Crisis Residential Treatment Program (CRTP) is now open and is accepting clients. It is located at the Restorative Care Village on the grounds of the MLK Medical Center Campus. The MLK Behavioral Health Center is one of nine CRTP facilities that Stars Behavioral Health Group is introducing this year to serve Los Angeles County residents.
The voluntary 16-bed adult center has begun supporting its first clients with compassionate treatment and counseling expertise providing mental health, case management, and medication support services along with and assistance in locating stable housing.
Designed for adults age 18+ dealing with mental health challenges or a recent crisis, the 24/7 program includes those who have a co-occurring substance abuse disorder.
Individuals are supported in obtaining medical, educational, vocational, employment, housing, and other services.
Future of Mental Health Crisis Services
in LA County
Fifteen CRTPS will be opening this year at four Los Angeles County medical facility campuses. They will join a countywide mental health crisis system that includes urgent care centers and mobile crisis teams overseen by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH) Intensive Care Division (ICD).
Referrals are being accepted from the Los Angeles Department of Mental Health Intensive Care Division, as well as county hospitals, acute inpatient units, urgent care centers, and law enforcement.

Valley Star will also operate CRTPs at Rancho Los Amigos in Downey, Olive View UCLA Medical Center in Sylmar and at LA+USC Medical Center in East Los Angeles.
