Valmet establishes headquarters in PTC

On Wednesday, May 11th, the City of Peachtree Corners Mayor, Mike Mason, joined members of Valmet’s leadership team and employees to celebrate the grand opening of the new North American headquarters on Davinci Court in Peachtree Corners.

Valmet is a Finnish-based global developer and supplier of process technologies, automation, and services for the pulp, paper, and energy industries. Including their automation systems and flow control solutions, the company serves an even wider base of process industries.

During the grand opening ceremony, Mayor Mason joined Valmet CEO Pasi Laine, Area President of North America Jukka Tiitinen, and Tim Betteridge, Vice President of Automation Systems North America in celebrating the new location and offering words of support and gratitude to Valmet employees and visitors.

“I’m proud of the hard work that has been put into the new Valmet North American headquarters here in Peachtree Corners and I’m glad to call it my home base,” says Jukka Tiitinen, Area President, North America.

Real estate values increasing
City remains competitive

Commercial property in Peachtree Corners is getting more expensive to buy and rent, and there is less of it to go around, but it is still a place where prices are reasonable and where people want to work and play. Companies that have moved here have said they like the access to major roads and Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, but they also like the affordable rents and the prices of the buildings.
According to the real estate information company CoStar, the city-wide asking rent rate, per square foot, has increased in Peachtree Corners from an average of $12.50/SF in 2017 to approximately $17 /SF in 2022. A roughly 41 percent increase hardly seems possible, especially coming out of a pandemic, but that’s the state of things. For comparison, the asking rent in Atlanta is about $29 /SF. Statewide it is about $19/SF. Although prices are increasing dramatically all over, the city is still a good place to open a business.

Peachtree Corners' Fusus expanding camera platform

A Peachtree Corners company is growing rapidly after developing a way to use business and residential security cameras to expand law enforcement surveillance networks.

Fusus, located at 5550 Triangle Parkway in Peachtree Corners, has experienced increasing demand for its platform and was recently named one of Atlanta INNO magazine's “50 on Fire”.

The Fusus Unified Intelligence Platform is an open ecosystem that expands on existing investigation tools by connecting cameras into a network and making them accessible to law enforcement. Residents and businesses can connect their own security cameras, such as Ring cameras, to help police solve crimes.

"We have been able to solve numerous felonies, such as bank robberies and other crimes, using Fusus technology integrating all of our different softwares and camera systems into one platform. It's turned out extremely well, and I would certainly recommend them to anyone looking to do that in their Real-Time Crime Center," said Chief Bill Partridge of the Oxford, Ala. Police Department.

The City of Atlanta recently adopted the program, which Chief Rodney Bryant called "a game-changer." Fusus plans to enable access to 30,000 real-time cameras and share multiple video feeds to different parts of the city. It is all done with permission from businesses and residents who are willing to add to the network.

English language institute celebrates 10 years, expands

English for a Lifetime Language Institute at 7094 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. is celebrating its 10th year and recently opened a second location in Roswell.
Its mission is to provide academic and vocational English instruction to adults, families, and business professionals with limited English proficiency.

"We believe that mastery of the English language is critical to our students’ success and productivity in the USA and globally," said Dr. Joel Floyd, who started the institute.

Dr. Floyd's goal primary goal was to help immigrants overcome language barriers and master the English language in order to thrive. During Covid-19, the center launched online classes and, somewhat surprisingly, learners from across the globe enrolled to help further their English language skills. In May, the center opened its Roswell location at 11205 Alpharetta Highway. The institute has begun helping employers by providing teachers at company locations.
