Leadership Academy
Leadership Academy 2011 Logo

The Valpo Chamber Leadership Academy encourages individuals to be trustees of their community - to work for the common good - and to become a leader for the entire community. The program uniquely focuses on connection and engagement in community service - specifically, leadership roles.

The Valpo Chamber Leadership Academy complements other leadership organizations with a focus on the skill and knowledge necessary to be an effective leader in the community; for example, expectations of board service, governance, understanding financial statements, fundraising, ethics, accountability, and time management.

Work Ethic Certification -
A Call to Action

Join us on Wednesday, June 14 for our next Quarterly Membership Breakfast.

Through an exciting collaboration among leaders in education and business in Northwest Indiana, many high schools are engaging in a Work Ethic Certification Initiative developed by the Northwest Indiana Workforce Board and Center of Workforce Innovations. The programs are designed to help students recognize and internalize 10 work ethic or soft skills that surveys of over 100 businesses in NWI have identified as the most important skills that employees need to possess, including: following directions, applying good listening skills and arriving to work on time. Our schools are listening and we now need our businesses to join in to recognize the Work Ethic Certificate as a differentiating credential when considering job applicants. Our chamber members have a critical role to play to help build this program.

The presentation will be made by George Douglas, Indiana Beverage and Mike Baird.
