More than 40 volunteers are still needed!
The Valpo Chamber Envision the Future Committee is planning the 2017 event for Porter County eighth-grade students. This annual program is scheduled for March 14, 2017, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Porter County Expo Center. Business volunteers are extremely important to this program. Volunteers will assist students as they learn how to live within their means while enjoying their chosen career. Envision the Future is an opportunity for students to realize exactly how much money it will take to pay for housing, utilities, a vehicle, insurance, food, clothing, and childcare, while trying to have enough money leftover for the "extras" in life.

New Event!
Quarterly Membership Breakfast.
Later this month, the Valpo Chamber will start hosting Quarterly Membership Breakfasts . These events will be similar to our luncheons but give members another networking opportunity earlier in the day.
The first Quarterly Breakfast will be on Wednesday, March 22, from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. at the Aberdeen Manor. Reservations can be made by calling the Valpo Chamber or clicking the link below. Reservations are $15 per person (member rate).
Vertex Improved Performance specializes in safety, security, and emergency preparedness consulting and training. Lance Bella, owner, will be on hand to teach some helpful tips about keeping safe in the workplace.

Speed Networking is Now FREE!
Speed Networking is returning for 2017, on March 22, hosted upstairs at the Valpo Chamber office.
Structured and fast paced, Speed Networking allows participants to interact with other professionals one-on-one, for a set period of time. So get out of the office and walk away with more new contacts in one afternoon than some make in six months!
This year, Speed Networking is free for members to attend. Seating is still limited though, so register today!

Legislative Hotline Dates
The 2017 Legislative Hotline program got off to a great start on Friday, January 20. Indiana State Senator Ed Charbonneau was present and Indiana State Senator Karen Tallian was available via phone to discuss what is on the slate for this legislative session.
Everyone is invited to attend the remaining Legislative Hotline programs. These legislative briefings give members an opportunity to hear firsthand about legislation being proposed and enacted in Indianapolis.
State Senators and House Representatives for Porter County and representatives of the Duneland and Portage Chambers of Commerce are either in attendance or present via conference call during these programs.
Valpo Chamber Legislative Hotline events begin at 7:30 a.m. and are held at the Chamber office, located at 162 W Lincolnway. These events are open to all chamber members at no cost.
