Together in Touch:

A Learning Retreat for North Carolina DeafBlind Families

From September 5–7, 2025, the North Carolina DeafBlind Project welcomed twenty-seven families to the Great Wolf Lodge for Together in Touch: A Learning Retreat for North Carolina DeafBlind Families. The weekend offered opportunities for families to connect, learn, and build community while enjoying time together.

Consultant Update:

IDEA Consultant for Deaf and Hard of Hearing

The Office of Exceptional Children is pleased to announce that Neena Malosky is the new IDEA Consultant for Deaf/Hard of Hearing for Regions 1-4 (Northeast, Southeast, North Central, and Sandhills - view statewide map).


Neena brings 20 years experience as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in North Carolina serving in roles in both IDEA Part B and Part C. Please join the OEC in welcoming Neena to her new role. Neena can be reached via email at neena.malosky@dpi.nc.gov.

Fall EC Conference - Parent Institute

(NC DeafBlind Project will sponsor DeafBlind families!)


The Fall EC Conference is approaching and will host a one day Parent Institute on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. The cost of registration is $50; lunch will be provided. Immediately following the parent institute, a local LEA will offer a session centered on post-secondary transition. The Parent Institute description and registration information can be found HERE. NEW Parent Support Group in the Triad Area! 

We want to welcome a NEW parent support group in NC! The Triad Area now has its own parent support group, and we are excited to let our parents know!

Family - 2- Family Communities (F2FC) - F2FC brings families together via distance technology to connect, share information and resources, and offer support to one another in the journey of supporting their family member with deaf-blindness.
