REMINDER

Here at the GVHS things are going strong!!!

Even with the cancellation of events, the registry activities have not slowed down. We are processing new registrations daily and we have been receiving a record number of ownership transfers. We have been posting new horses for sale on the classifieds so take a look if you are shopping for a horse.

Many of you are at home staying safe, for those of you that must go out to do your essential activities WE APPRECIATE YOU!!!

Many of you are using the time for spring cleaning, sorting and organizing.

Now is a great time to organize and review your Gypsy Vanner Horse records. If you have horses not yet registered, or ownership transfers not yet done, its the perfect time to get those sent in and caught up. New foals are arriving so don't get behind in your registrations. The office has over 120 horses in process at this time. Some of them we are waiting on the DNA reports. Some of them we are waiting on the photos. Review your records to see what you need to do to be sure all is current.

At this time the DNA lab is still operating, but with limited staff. It may take a little more time to get the results, so be sure to get your hair samples sent in. There are over 80 registrations simply waiting to be completed pending the DNA because the owner has not yet sent in the hair. Now that the weather is a little better is also a good time to get those registration photos done if you have not yet sent them.

If you need forms you can find them on the website, or email the office at gvhs@vanners.org for forms, or help or questions.

Whinnnie, (Greetings from Aunt Fannie)
During this stressful time in our lives, it's good to have a routine, owning a horse(s) guarantees this.  Horses like and need routine for good health which in turn helps the owners' health for so many reasons.
How many of us chug down coffee or tea in the morning so we can get out to feed the horse(s)?  The horse knows when we're up and in the kitchen.  They know what time it is, take a peek out the window and you'll see them looking back at you or hear at least one of them knocking on the stall doors.  Gypsy Vanners are notorious for door knocking.  I'm off to feed the lovelies.  While I prepare their feed, supplements etc. it's notable that some horse people sing to their horses.  Who knows why, calms them and helps start the morning.  I always sing the same couple of old songs, usually out of tune, but they don't care and even seem to like it.  As I'm feeding each one, I'll pet him or her and tell them what a good horse he or she is, which may or not be true, we'll work on that later.  After turn-out I'm able to do some serious thinking about doing farm projects after barn chores.  During the day I catch myself watching them as they mosey around the pasture and think about how lucky I am to have a horse(s).  The p.m. feeding starts the routine all over again plus there's grooming afterwards, which we all enjoy.  How wonderful it is to have a horse(s) with all the routine chores that go along with it.  After all, life with horses is pretty good.
