Giving Kids the Advantage

Saint Rose Senior Dezarae Hall

Joins Us for a Semester

We were excited to have Saint Rose Senior Dezarae Hall with us for the entire spring semester. She has been such a great help working with our executive director for kindergarten enrichment at Sheridan Prep Academy, as well assisting with Healthy Futures on Thursday nights.

We wanted to get to know Dezarae and asked her 5 questions we would like to share with you.

What are you studying and where?

I am a senior at the college of Saint Rose, graduating this upcoming May 2023. I am majoring in Psychology, with a concentration in clinical/counseling and a minor in social work.

What do you hope to do with your degree?

Following my academic studies, my overall career goal is to become a licensed clinical mental health counselor (LMHC). I hope to specialize in working with individuals battling anxiety and depression, in either a hospital or private practice.

Why did you choose 15-LOVE for your internship?

I enjoy guiding children and have notable prior experience working with those ranging from nursey to 12 years old, in previous jobs, internships, and community-based opportunities. Hence, I believed my interest and past involvement could potentially pose as a valuable asset among various ways in my time spent here.

What do you hope to gain from your internship?

As a future helping professional, I am aiming to gain opportunities which would allow me to work with a range of different populations on the age spectrum. Even though I’m planning to focus on young to middle-aged adults, I would still like to have as much experience working with younger children whenever I get the chance. This will help me become an overall well-rounded counselor. I also would like to simply expand my work with children in a different setting.

Tell us something fun or interesting about you.

A fun fact about me is that my birthday is actually on New Year’s Eve!! What’s great about this is that it always feels like the whole world is celebrating my birthday with me.

2023 Tennis-a-Thon Begins in March

Our Excellence participants are excited to help raise funds again for 15-LOVE programming at this year's 5th Annual Tennis-a-Thon.

They created the fundraiser back in 2017 as a way to help give back to the organization that has done so much for them. The goal is to ask friends and family to sponsor them for a certain amount for each serve they hit in. The more accurate their serve that day, the more they raise! It is a fun way for the kids to support 15-LOVE and work on their serves at the same time.

None of this would be possible without our amazing sponsors SPORTIME Schenectady, Riverside Law and Fowler & Co. for your support!. Thank you !

Stay tuned to find out how they do!
