Students & Staff

Sunrise Principal Katharine Geiss observes this group of students as they identify both similarities and differences among the various books they have collectively read as a class. The students actively contribute to the discussion, building on each other’s ideas.

Mattson Principal Janine Etier listens in as students skillfully use the concepts of claim, reasoning, and evidence to understand the intricacies of characters in their novel. This work not only enhances their comprehension, but also enables them to identify themes the author has woven throughout the book.

I am excited to share a photo of our Student Athlete Leadership Team or SALT. These student-athletes have been nominated by their coaches, teachers, and athletic directors to represent their individual schools as part of a districtwide focus group to tackle issues and lend student voice.

Community & City Partners

We have begun a new partnership with the Kent Parks and Recreation Department. This partnership initiative, led by Athletics and Activities Director Brian Smith, will provide access to larger meeting spaces free of charge. I thank both Brian and Kent Parks for their collaboration which paves the way for future endeavors aimed at strengthening the bond between the district and the City of Kent.
