Venetian Causeway Water and Sewer Main Replacement - Phase II

Project Start: Summer 2024

Project Overview

The city is replacing the aerial water main crossings on the Venetian Causeway. These lines run along the north and south sides of the Venetian bridges and are in poor condition. The pipes ranked first in the the prioritized list of critical assets for the Water & Sewer Renewal and Replacement Report. Once completed, the new lines will provide a sufficient flow capacity to meet the city's growing demands.

What's Happening

Phase I of the Venetian Causeway water and sewer main replacement project (Belle Isle and Rivo Alto) is now complete. This project will soon move into Phase II, which involves replacing both the water and sewer mains that connect San Marco to San Marino, San Marino to Di Lido, and Di Lido to Rivo Alto. The water main that connects Dade Blvd to the Miami Beach mainland will also be replaced as part of this project.

Timeline

The construction contract was awarded to Quality Enterprises USA, Inc. at the January 2024 Commission meeting. This project is slated to begin in mid/late summer 2024. A detailed copy of the project schedule and Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plan are forthcoming.
