What's Happening

The Venetian Causeway Water and Sewer Main Replacement project is underway. The contractor is working to replace the old water and sewer main with new pipes that will be installed underground.

Timeline

Work will be performed Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Weekend work is approved on a case-by-case basis.

Below is a tentative schedule for each phase:

• Phase I: December 2022 - January 2023
• Phase II: January 2023 - March 2023
• Phase III: March 2023 - May 2023
• Phase IV: May 2023 - August 2023

The project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2023. This schedule may change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Traffic Updates

The United States Coast Guard has authorized a temporary deviation of the East Venetian Causeway Bridge to operate until January 31, 2023, under the following conditions:

Monday through Friday (except on Federal holidays)

• 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. - The drawbridge will only open on the hour.
• 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. - The drawbridge will only open on the hour and half hour.
• 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. - The drawbridge will only open on the hour.
• 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. - The drawbridge will open on signal.

The drawbridge will open on signal on Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays.



Public vessels of the United States and vessels in distress may pass at any time. City staff will continue to work with the U.S. Coast Guard for future extensions as the project progresses.
