The Venetian Causeway Water and Sewer Main Replacement project is underway. The contractor is working to replace the old water and sewer main with new pipes that will be installed underground.

Timeline Update

This project is currently in Phase III (the north side of Venetian Way). Please be aware that Phase II has not been completed and that the contractor will return to this phase at the end of the project.

The contractor has been approved to perform pull back operations tomorrow. They will begin late Thursday, April 6, 2023, and end Friday, April 7, 2023, to avoid weekend work. The machinery used in this overnight operation will not generate much noise. Please be aware that this is a continuous, 24-hour operation.

Regular work hours will continue Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with weekend work approved on a case-by-case basis. This project remains on schedule and is expected to be completed by the end of 2023. Please know that this timeline may change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Phase III – Traffic Changes for February - April 2023

• The westbound lane on Venetian Way between Island Ave will be closed.
• The westbound lane between East and West Rivo Alto will be closed.
• The westbound bike lanes and sidewalks on Venetian Way between Island Ave will be closed.
• The westbound bike lanes and sidewalks between Rivo Alto Island and E San Marino Drive will be closed.
• On Di Lido Island, a work zone will be set up, blocking the westbound right turn onto E Dilido Drive.

What to Expect

• Due to the partial closure of Venetian Way, residents will notice an increase in traffic through their neighborhood.
• There may be construction noise due to drilling equipment.
• Commuters to and from Miami Beach will face delays on the Venetian Causeway due to detours. 
• There may be moderate noise impacts outside of normal working hours.
• One lane of the Venetian Causeway will be open at all times.
• Emergency vehicles will have access to the islands at all times.
