Project Update: Venetian Causeway Water and Sewer Main Upgrades Phase 2

What's Happening?

The Venetian Causeway water and sewer main upgrades continue to progress, the project team will be working on multiple segments concurrently. To optimize efficiency, the construction team is now working on multiple segments simultaneously. This phased, concurrent approach is designed to reduce long-term impacts on traffic flow and community access while ensuring the infrastructure improvements are completed with minimal delay.


Schedule

  • The contractor will be excavating and installing 30” and 36” water main pipe at San Marco Island, beginning the week of August 11 for approximately 5 to 6 weeks.
  • The contractor will begin drilling operations and installation of 12” force main pipes beneath Venetian Way at Di Lido Island and San Marino Island the week of August 11 for approximately 5 weeks.


The above noted schedule is subject to change due to weather and/or other unforeseen circumstances.


Traffic Impacts

The city remains committed to minimizing disruption for residents and visitors. Traffic operations will be assisted by off-duty officers and flaggers during peak traffic hours. Please find the detour route information below:


San Marco Island

Traveling west along Venetian Way/Causeway (approaching N Venetian Way)

  • Proceed west along Venetian Way/Venetian Causeway until the roadway junction and bare right onto the right-hand junction/fork of N Venetian Way.
  • Proceed along the right-hand junction/fork until you reach the stop sign, then continue into the main N Venetian Way through road.


Traveling east along S Venetian Way (approaching Venetian Way)

  • Eastbound traffic along S Venetian Way at San Marco Island will not be impacted.

 

San Marino Island

Traveling west along Venetian Way (approaching San Marco Island) 

  • Westbound traffic along Venetian Way at San Marino Island will not be impacted.


Traveling east along Venetian Way On San Marino Island (approaching Di Lido Island) 

  • Proceed east along Venetian Way until W San Marino Drive and turn south (right) onto W San Marino Drive.
  • Proceed south along W San Marino Drive and turn east (left) onto 2 San Marino Terrace.
  • Proceed east along 2 San Marino Terrace and turn north (left) onto E San Marino Drive.
  • Proceed north along San Marino Drive and turn east (right) onto Venetian Way.


Di Lido Island

Traveling west along Venetian Way (approaching San Marino Island)

  • Westbound traffic along Venetian Way at Di Lido Island will not be impacted.


Traveling east along Venetian Way on Di Lido Island (approaching Belle Ilse)

  • Proceed east along Venetian Way until W Di Lido Drive and turn south (right) onto W Di Lido Drive.
  • Proceed south along W Di Lido Drive and turn east (left) onto 4 Di Lido Terrace. 
  • Proceed east along 4 Di Lido Terrace and turn north (left) onto E Di Lido Drive. 
  • Proceed north along E Di Lido Drive and turn east (right) onto Venetian Way.


Eastbound traffic, including vehicles and micromobility devices, will be prohibited during the eastbound closure along Venetian Way/Venetian Causeway On San Marino Island and Di Lido Island. Micromobility users and vehicles will share the detour route. Please follow all posted signs for your safety and guidance.
