Alongside Hope is raising funds for 25 more Solar Suitcases in Mozambique
Thanks to the generosity of Canadian Anglicans, since 2016 Alongside Hope has been steadily lighting up health clinics in Nampula Province of Mozambique. With the installation of a Solar Suitcase – 115 in total so far – our partners at EHALE have been able to improve quality of care for patients, especially women giving birth in the dark of night.
Ten years later, we’re at it again, raising funds for another 25 Solar Suitcases. The Solar Suitcase looks like a bright yellow suitcase, but it opens to reveal two medical grade lights, a fetal Doppler, cellphone and tablet charging stations, and two headlamps. The suitcase is mounted to the clinic wall and connected to a solar panel on the roof. Each suitcase costs $6,500, which includes delivery, installation and training.
Read more about the impact of these Solar Suitcases on nurse Sitoe, patient José and midwife Joaquim.
