We value your feedback as we update and improve our services. Thanks to all who have contributed their thoughts by completing our Long Range Plan survey. If you haven't had a chance to do so, we are still accepting surveys until August 21 - click here. Teens, adults, community members, and anyone who has used the library are all invited to share their voices. Everyone who completes the survey also has the chance to win one of four $25 Amazon gift cards.
Step outside this summer and submit your favorite nature photos to the annual VML Nature Photography Contest. This event began on August 1 and continues until August 31, 2021. Winning photos will be featured on our Facebook page and prizes will be awarded at the end. Participants are asked to submit up to 3 photos per participant in a .jpg format to Nancy at nhickey@ocln.org.
The Fantastic Fairy House Program was a smashing success! We had 46 participants, all of whom used their imaginations to create the most lovely displays. There are three winners; the winner of Best in Show and Best Children’s House is Lily Mitchell. The winner of Best Teen House is Kathleen LaRosa and the winner of Best Adult House is Kaleigh Cara Donna and friends. Thank you to everyone who joined in this whimsical program.

Children's Updates
The Children’s Room is hosting two great events this month! Join us on Wednesday, August 11 at 10:00 a.m. for Bear-A-Lee’s Family Music Party in Dandelion Park, across the street from the library. This program was made possible thanks to a generous grant from the Marshfield Cultural Council. Performer Amy Conley and her friend Bear-A-Lee will be leading us in song and dance for a great time on the grass. This will be a fun 45 minute music party. Bring your family and a blanket to party on. We will have instruments for you to play as we dance along with Amy and Bear-A-Lee!
For even more fun this month, join us in celebrating Summer Reading at our End of Summer party. This program will be held on Thursday, August 19 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Winslow House on 634 Careswell Street.
There will be treats, games, crafts, music, and even a chance to meet and learn about the Friends of the Marshfield Animal Shelter! Please help us help our furry friends by donating cat accessories. Clumping litter, food, trash bags and paper towels are their most needed items. This program is for children and teens whether they joined the reading program or not. (Rain date for this event will be August 26 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.)
The Children’s Room is open and we are always so excited to see you! Zoom story times with Miss Wendy continue on Mondays at 10:00 a.m., Wednesdays at 2:00 p.m., and Thursdays at 5:00 p.m. Weekly Take & Make crafts are available starting at 1:00 p.m. on Mondays. To register for the crafts and story times - click here.
Keep your eyes on our website, our Calendar of Events and our kids Instagram and Facebook this month for the most up to date information on the Children’s Room fall schedule. We have lots of programs and events in the works for September. We can’t wait to share the details with you!

Tween & Teen Updates
It has been a busy summer, but we are looking forward to fall! That said, while we cannot predict the state of the world in the next few months, we plan to host in-person programs this fall *fingers crossed*! If you are a tween or teen entering grades 4-12, or are the parent or guardian of one, please fill out our short program survey. The survey will remain open through September 18.
Our virtual summer fan con ACTIVATE is over, but you can still watch the replay through August 28 (and pick up a limited edition pin or sticker). Visit bit.ly/activatefancon2021 to enter the Crowdcast and watch the replays of art demos, fan panels, D&D discussions, and more! To claim a sticker or pin, stop by the Check-Out Desk and ask for an ACTIVATE pin or sticker, while supplies last.
We just doubled our video game collection. Visit the library or check out our online catalog, and check one out today. New games must be picked up at the Ventress Library; all others can be placed on hold for pickup at your local OCLN library.
