Happy New Year from our staff to you! Looking for your next great e-book or e-audiobook? Ventress Memorial Library recently purchased a wide selection of e-books and e-audiobooks through Overdrive. Check out the New e-books list and New e-audiobooks list from VML. This month's issue of the Ventress Voice highlights our upcoming programs for children, tweens, teens, and adults. We are also pleased to introduce Hoopla BingePass! BingePass is a new type of Hoopla Instant Borrow that provides you with unlimited access to popular streaming content for 7 days, using only one Hoopla Instant Borrow! With Hoopla BingePass, you can access Hoopla Magazines,The Great Courses Library Collection, and more. We will once again host the South of Boston Board Game Meetup on January 15 from 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. Come ready to learn new games or bring a game of your own to play. Free and open to the public, this meetup is open to high school-aged teens and adults of all ages; no registration required. We also have an expanded schedule for The Wave Makerspace. Folks ages 12+ can join us select afternoons from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., and on January 11 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Folks ages 14+ can now also sign up for 2 hour slots to use our iMac and new Adobe Creative Cloud software two Saturdays a month. Join us for a virtual presentation, Kilimanjaro: Journey to the Roof of Africa, featuring Peter Christoph on Saturday, January 22 from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Peter will present his photographic journey through five climate zones from tropical rain forest to arctic conditions in his quest for the summit of 19,340 foot high Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa, and the highest free-standing mountain in the world. Peter will provide commentary throughout the entire slideshow, and include behind the scenes photos of how he trained for his adventure! Advance registration is required - click here. Children's Updates
The Children’s Room is excited to welcome 2022! Many of the library’s popular weekly programs will be back in January, including Open Play and Storytime. Advance registration for everyone who will attend is required for all events unless otherwise noted. Register online on our Calendar of Events or call us at (781) 834-5535.
We are pleased to introduce the first Picture Book Club on Saturday, January 29 at 10:00 a.m. Ms. Wendy will present a dramatic reading of Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin, followed by a discussion and crafts. To register for this event, click here.

Tween & Teen Updates
Our January Loot Bag is open to folks in grades 3 - 12. The theme is The Legend of Zelda and comes with books, stickers, an inflatable sword, and other FAN-tastic goodies - register here.
We are pleased to offer tween programming for older kids in grades 3 - 6. Kids 10+ can choose to attend programs alone or with an adult. Tween Makers will be held on Tuesday, January 4 between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. in The Wave Makerspace. This program allows your child a half hour time slot to work with some of the cool machines we have to offer - register for a slot. Tween Crafternoon will take place on Wednesday, January 26 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. in the Children’s Program Room! This program will encourage tweens to use their imagination and get creative with a selection of craft items - no registration required.
Teen programs are for middle and high school folks in grades 6 - 12. We are excited to announce another Dungeons & Dragons campaign starting on January 26. On Wednesday evenings from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., join our teen DM and new and returning players in a continuation of Dragon Heist - a shenanigans-filled urban adventure. Please note that this campaign runs through May - learn more and register here. Want to help plan library programs and more? Finally, get one-on-one guidance in The Wake Makerspace with our Teen Makers program on January 25 between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. - register for a slot.
