Course Overview:

Corrections officers often work in extremely challenging and sometimes dangerous environments. Corrections officers must maintain order and control inmate populations relying primarily on verbal skills. This De-escalation training for correctional officers is a program designed to teach officers how to use verbal communication skills to diffuse tense situations with inmates, aiming to minimize the need for physical force within a correctional facility. This training is presented by an instructor with 24 years of experience in public safety, including working in correctional facilities as an officer, sergeant, and lieutenant.
