Vergennes Memorial Day Parade

Marks the Beginning of Summer FUN!

Monday, May 27, 11:00am

Now & Forever, We Remember is the theme for this year’s Vergennes Memorial Day parade. Directed by the American Legion Post #14, the Vergennes parade is the largest Memorial Day parade in the state. The parade begins at VUHS and winds its way through the Little City. It concludes with a formal Memorial Day remembrance at City Park at ~ 12:30pm. Ron LaRose, Senior Vice Commander & American Legion Commander of Bristol Post #19, will serve as the Parade Marshall. Fort Ticonderoga Curator Matthew Keagle will be the keynote speaker. Following the parade, American Legion Post #14 will hold a chicken barbecue at their post (100 Armory Lane) beginning at noon for $10.00 a plate .

Saint Paul's Community Green Space

Project is in Motion!

With the community in mind, parishioners and residents of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church worked with Vergennes Partnership to redevelop the west-facing lawn into a public gathering space adjacent to the City Green.

City Council members supported the church's proposal to rebuild and widen the narrow sidewalk, making it accessible to those with disabilities and to replace the retaining wall, both of which are key components of St. Paul's broader landscape design. The Partnership applied and received a $46,200 state funds grant to the City of Vergennes to help pay for the improvement project.

~ Bridge to Bridge Campaign Continues ~

Operation Vergennes Beautification is alive and strong! The Partnership is well on their way, raising funds for flowers on the bridge and on up through Main Street - from Otter Creek to Kayhart Crossing.

~ Tourism Adds Economic Vitality to the Little City ~

Tourism plays a big role in the economic vitality of Vergennes and the entire state of Vermont. I had the pleasure of meeting Pennsylvania residents Donna and Jeff Spotts last summer during lobster night at Basin Harbor . Savoring the magic of the evening under the waterfront tent, they gushed about their wonderful experience coming to Basin Harbor and visiting Vergennes. Donna later wrote a very kind note back to me... "As business owners, we found Vergennes to be the perfect getaway from our hectic schedule. The atmosphere was relaxing, welcoming and fun! We enjoyed waking up each morning to our view of beautiful Lake Champlain and exploring what Vergennes had to offer. We ate at several of the local restaurants, including Hired Hand , and enjoyed the delicious, fresh food. We indulged with creemees (more than once!) and visited many of the local shops where we purchased clothing, books, jewelry and, of course, some maple items! Thank you, people of Vergennes , for a great experience !"
