YES, it's true - the Basin Block sidewalk is getting a much needed makeover! Vergennes Partnership, working in collaboration with the City of Vergennes, is pleased to announce the award of a $38,493 grant from the State of Vermont's Downtown Development Board. The Basin Block sidewalk restoration began this past Monday and, weather cooperating, the project will be done by day's end Wednesday, May 3!

Vergennes Partnership spearheaded the application and as a Designated Downtown, the City was eligible to apply. Upon receipt of this award, Champlain Construction was poised to get the project in motion before the busy summer season ahead. The end result, with its 20% match from the City, will provide a far more welcoming entry to the largest concentration of retail shops in our downtown.

As a designated downtown entity, the Partnership and other Vermont municipalities model themselves after the Main Street America™ Coordinating Program which helps support community revitalization while preserving its historic character.

SPECIAL THANKS to Norm LeBoeuf and Renny Perry for their institutional knowledge and guidance in submitting this grant. It truly takes a village!
Before the pour,

Park Street Community Project Update!
The Park Street Community Project Committee has finalized plans with Church Hill Landscapes for the green space on the west facing lawn of St. Paul's Church.

The Committee wishes to thank the community members and those from out of state who contributed to this project through the Better Places "crowdgranting" funding opportunity.

The design will create a space to sit and enjoy the city, and the Main Street side is meant to bring bursts of color through the season. The work is scheduled to take place late summer/early fall.

Vergennes Partnership is serving as the fiscal agent. The project is an extension of upgrades in 2018 - Park Street sidewalk refurbish and Panton stone retaining wall - made possible through the Downtown Transportation Fund grant program.
