Over 50 Partnership members made up of business owners, staff, volunteers, engaged citizens and invited guests recently gathered at the Strong House Inn for the VP's Annual Meeting. After the business meeting, guest enjoyed the Inn's outdoor courtyard and delightful food from Rockers Pizzeria, lu.lu ice cream, and Old World Cook at the Strong House.
Our theme for FY 22-23 will be fluid, surrounding the idea of a SPARK - The L.F. Benton Company, located next to the Falls, began manufacturing and distributing "The Benton" spark plug in 1912. Check out the whole story (written by Bill Benton, L.F.'s great grandson). Upon learning of Bill's Vergennes Chamber of Commerce Spark Plug Award, for outstanding service to our community in 2000, this year's theme evolved....
A SPARK is what rejuvenated the energy behind the Opera House restoration - a SPARK ignited interest in the saving of precious stained glass windows in our local churches - a SPARK among collective players worked to make Vergennes a dedicated downtown - a SPARK of identified need is the impetus for making things happen.
We invite you to continue to Be a Spark of energy and engagement - an ambassador for the Little City.
Membership and support for the Partnership provides the spark needed to keep our organization going strong. As we begin FY22-23, we look forward to honoring the sparks of the past as we forge ahead with renewed ignition of energy, optimism and good vibes for the City of Vergennes!

Spend any time in downtown Vergennes and your are bound to meet up with Kelly Sweeney, the spark behind the hanging baskets on Main Street, flowers on the Otter Creek Bridge, Bixby Memorial Free Library and a host of other bouquets of seasonal color throughout Vergennes. When you talk plants with Kelly, you quickly realize that she is the ultimate 'plant whisperer'! Residents, neighbors and tourists alike love the look and vibe of the Little City as Kelly brings the spark of flowers to the downtown and beyond. Hats off to you, Kel - and to Lauren Slayton, Beth Jackman, Kristen Benton, Diane Merrill, and Cindy LeBeau, Lynne Perry, Kathy Bessette, Colleen Buoton and others for their green thumb assistance too!

Bridge-2-Bridge Flower Campaign News Alert
|
|
Together, we are more. Sincere thanks and gratitude to Aubuchon Hardware store manager, Chad Herschel, a very strong supporter of the Partnership and our community! During the month of May, we collaborated with the Round Up change promotion with a match by the Aubuchon Foundation of the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts. Between the support of Aubuchon shoppers and the Foundation, the Partnership was recently awarded $3994.26, earmarked for the annual Bridge-2-Bridge Flower Campaign! The monies raised are being used for not only the hanging baskets, but additional plantings throughout Vergennes. The Little City is bursting in bloom this summer, thanks to Chad and the Aubuchon team.
Next time you're at the hardware store, give Chad a nod of gratitude. Oh, and pet Bubbles, the resident cat. He loves the attention!
