* SPECIAL SHOUT OUT of THANKS...
to Chef Christian Kruse who is creating culinary delights for this year's Gala. Christian and his family reside right here in Vergennes! A graduate of NECI, former Executive Chef at Basin Harbor and former owner of Vergennes Laundry; he's now rocking it as executive chef at Black Flannel in Essex, Vermont. We salute Chef Christian for his stewardship to the Vergennes community - and can't wait to see what he creates for next week's Bixby Gala!

Salute to Brian Gebo, Martha Sullivan and others who helped make the annual Vergennes Memorial Day parade a reality on Monday, May 30! Hosted by American Legion Post #14, the red, white and blue shined bright on the Little City and the enthusiasm after a two year COVID hiatus made the day even more special. Established in 1946, the Vergennes Memorial Day parade is the largest in the state. The theme, “Home of the Free, Because of the Brave” honored all veterans who died in active military service.
WCAX-TV was at the parade; catch a glimpse: click here.

Shear Cuts Gets a New 'Do!

Hats off and hair down - the Partnership and the entire community are so fortunate for Shear Cuts to grace our downtown. A recent long weekend involved some fast renovations that will produce long lasting improvements to the shop. In shop owner Hillary Devine's words:
"We’ve weathered the pandemic thus far with reduced capacity and many restrictions. We are now positioning our business to be ready for a “normal” busy summer season by using our space most efficiently. We’ve redesigned our Wash House area into a more tranquil space with 3 shampoo sinks that are far more comfortable for our clients and stylists. In addition we also created a room dedicated to our color mixing craft. We are always looking for ways to improve our environment and the experience for both our team and our clients. Shear Cuts has continued to grow and evolve for 25 years thanks to our community. We invite you to stop by!"

While Others in the Little City are Saying "I Do"!
While COVID has curtailed plans and upset lives for many, LOVE carries on. Local residents Ryan Donnelly and Elyzabeth Bodington tied the knot on Friday, May 27 on the City Green. The Donnellys are both lifelong residents of Vergennes and share their love of the Little City. Elyzabeth is a nurse at Porter Medical Center while Ryan serves on the Charlotte Fire & Rescue and also serves on the Vergennes Volunteer Fire Department too. Congrats to the happy couple!
"Love is friendship that has caught fire." Ann Landers
