Terra Chroma at Frog Hollow Vermont Craft Gallery

Image courtesy Marilyn Ruseckas. | | Frog Hollow Vermont Craft Gallery presents Terra Chroma, showcasing the work of Vermont artists Marilyn Ruseckas and Kileh Friedman. Pastel artist Ruseckas works in a "modern realism" style and through her work, captures "intensely personal interpretations" of the Vermont landscape. Friedman, a ceramic artist, creates organic patterns and builds an "intimate connection" to the land itself. "At the heart of this exhibition lies a profound connection to the earth itself. Marilyn Ruseckas’s luminous pastels, pigments born from the earth, share a malleable material kinship with Kileh Friedman’s ceramics, crafted from the very clay beneath our feet," according to curatorial materials. There will be an opening reception on Friday, July 11, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The gallery is open everyday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Frog Hollow Vermont Gallery is located at 85 Church Street, Burlington, VT. Joan O’Beirne: Detachments at Vermont Center for Photography

Image courtesy Vermont Center for Photography. | | Vermont Center for Photography presents Joan O’Beirne: Detachments, highlighting the work of Vermont-based photographer and educator Joan O'Beirne. Holding an MFA in photography from the University of New Mexico, O'Beirne heads the photography department at Greenfield Community College and serves as the director of the GCC South Gallery. Much of O'Beirne's work is ephemeral and dream-like, often using pinhole cameras and printing or projecting on unconventional surfaces. Collage and reusing found objects and old photos also play a role in her artistic practice. This exhibition provides a space for these artists and educators to share their visions and voices. "The variety of media they employ—painting, drawing, sculpture, even circus arts—reflects the richness of their perspectives and the breadth of creative exploration they foster in the classroom," according to a curatorial statement.
