Vernon Parish King Day Coalition 2016 Schedule of Events
LEESVILLE, La.-- The Vernon Parish King Day Coalition, a community organization, will be hosting several events leading up to Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January, 18, 2016. Events will start Thursday, January 14 and conclude January, 18.

The 2016 schedule of events are as follows:

  • Thursday, January 14, 2016: Spelling Bee and Oratorical Contest at 5:30 p.m. at the MLK Center.
  • Saturday, January 16, 2016: Scholarship Banquet at 7 p.m. at the MLK Center. $20.00 to attend. Carlene A.S Blanding, COL, MS, Commander, Bayne Jones Army Community Hospital will be the special guest speaker for the event.
  • Sunday, January 17, 2016: Community Worship Service at 7 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
  • Monday, January 18, 2016: King Day Parade and Rally. The parade starts at 10 a.m. on MLK Street.
