LEESVILLE, LA -- Vernon Parish School Board’s Director of Finance, Tim Ward, received an Excellence in Financial Reporting Certificate of Achievement from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) during the October 10, 2019 regular meeting of the Vernon Parish School Board (VPSB).
VPSB’s President, Vernon Travis, presented Ward with the award.
As stated by the GFOA, the Certificate of Achievement is considered “the highest of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting”. The attainment of the Certificate represents a significant accomplishment by the school and its management team.
The Vernon Parish School Board is one of less than 30 school districts in Louisiana to receive this recognition for the 2017 – 2018 fiscal year. VPSB has consistently received this recognition for the last 20 years. Ward has worked as the Director of Finance for VPSB for 19 and a half years.
When asked about the honor, Ward stated “I am very proud to receive this award, but I would like to dedicate this award to all the hardworking employees in the Vernon Parish Finance Department because without them this award would not be possible.”
Ward continued by adding “I am just one member of a team that works together to make sure the Vernon Parish School Board accomplishes the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.”
