Camille Stewart: A Blueprint for Inclusive Leadership

Camille Stewart

VersaFi Member

As Head of North American Wealth Product and Platforms at Manulife, and former VersaFi Champions of Change recipient, Camille Stewart has built a distinguished career by bridging the technical and the business sides of finance. Her leadership is set apart with a profound commitment to inclusion, driven by a belief that creating an inclusive environment must be a priority for all leaders.

She advocates for inclusion as a critical "business strength," noting it encourages talented colleagues to join and stay engaged with the company's strategy.

Camille’s approach to fostering inclusion is simple yet impactful: "...invite other opinions. Ask the colleagues who aren't the first to volunteer an opinion – and ask in a place where they don't feel put on the spot." This deliberate approach ensures that all team members, particularly newcomers who may hesitate to contribute, are valued for their insights.

Grateful for the sponsors who opened doors for her, Camille advocates for colleagues in the same manner with a commitment to ensuring the practice of sponsorship continues to transform individual careers into an industry-wide advancement.

Looking forward to the future for Black finance professionals, Camille cites VersaFi’s quality, inclusive and needs-oriented programming, along with industry support, are critical to advance talent for future generations.

VersaFi's Powering Progress for Women in the Finance Sector: Scorecard 2026

The finance sector is at the very heart of Canada’s economic growth and stability with attracting, advancing and retaining talent ever more urgent. Women are an integral part of the sector’s mission-critical talent equation, yet they remain significantly underrepresented in key roles, and often overlooked for advancement opportunities.

VersaFi conducted an in-depth study of women across diverse finance roles, exploring both progress and persistent challenges in three key impact areas: Culture, Retention, and Advancement.

Our inaugural Powering Progress Scorecard is designed to address these critical questions: why are the majority of women in finance falling short of achieving the careers to which they aspire? Has their collective ambition changed? What is holding them back?
