It's looking a lot like perfect weather conditions for some holiday XC skiing at Wapiti Nordic! The lodge will be open with the exception of Christmas and New Years Day - trails are open 24/7. If you have family or friends visiting we have rentals and day passes available too. Merry Christmas from everyone at WNSC!

Jan 10-12 | 2025

Enjoy some fantastic films and support your local Nordic ski club! Catch one, two or all three shows at NWP - each features a different program of 6-8 independent films covering outdoor adventures, snow sports, mountain biking, culture, environment and more! Friday 10th @ 7pm, Saturday 11th @ 7pm and Sunday 12th @ 2pm matinee. All proceeds to Wapiti Nordic. Check out the trailer here!

We now have certified Instructors lined up to teach and will be matching lesson inquiries on a case by case basis. Classic and skate technique lessons available in small group or private session format. Equipment rentals available too if needed. Full details on our website.

With the changing of the guard on the grooming front this winter, volunteer Winter Trails Coordinator Geo Rawlins, has taken the opportunity to shift more grooming operations to late evenings (whenever possible + pending volunteer availability). This should allow the classic tracks to set up firmer overnight so they hold their form better and longer. The Board has also approved track setting the 5km Valley Loop on the Forest Trails in reverse to see if it offers a better XC skiing experience. Feedback welcome.

Jan 4 | 2025

Registrations have closed and skis have been handed out for kids in the Jackrabbits and Bunnies Learn to Ski program. Thanks to all parent volunteers who have stepped up to help facilitate this program. This program runs Saturday mornings starting Jan 4th so expect lots of traffic and little ones in the main parking lot - please use caution.

Jan & Feb | 2025

Wapiti Nordic will be proudly hosting not one but TWO Provincial ski events - the cross country Alberta Cup (Jan 25-26) and biathlon Calforex Cup (Feb 8-9). If you haven't been hit up to volunteer yet for either event - or both - but would like to help in any way, please let us know ASAP!

Our new SnowDog is garnering attention and adoration from local fat bike enthusiasts who are loving the evenly packed multi use trails! Special thanks to volunteer Trail Director Matt Wild for advocating for the addition of this piece of equipment (especially with this being a good snow year) and the many hours he has put in taming this beast and grooming the north and south multi use trails! Snowshoers and hikers still welcome on these trails.

March 9 | 2025

Plans are underway for Wapiti Nordic to host its own fun loppet on Sunday, March 9th. There will be multiple distances, something for all ages, and possibly a fat bike and snowshoe option on top of the ski component! Stay tuned!

There will be no Chicks Monday Dec 23rd or Thursday Dec 26th. We will resume to our regular schedule on Monday the 30th at the usual time. Wishing all Chicks a very Merry Christmas and see you soon!
