Sixteenth Sunday After Pentecost - September 17, 2023

Vestry Nominations Open

Serving on the Vestry is an exciting opportunity to grow spiritually and be part of the leadership of Epiphany as we follow Jesus Christ on our spiritual journey.  Leslie Johnson, Senior Warden, recently shared her own spiritual journey as she was called for service on the vestry.  Vestry members serve staggered three year terms.  New members are elected each year at our Annual Meeting which will be held November 19, 2023. The Vestry Nominating Committee is comprised of the outgoing Vestry members along with two members of the congregation and is charged with preparing a slate of nominees to the fill the outgoing membership for consideration by the congregation.  This year’s nominating committee is:

Leslie Johnson Out-going Vestry Member

Geoffrey Seroka, Out-going Vestry Member

Christina Cummings, Out-going Vestry Member

Greg Harrison, Member-at-large

Ralph Morris, Member-at-large

If you are looking for an opportunity to grow in prayer, love and experiencing the powerof God’s Spirit, then pray and ask God to show you where He wants you. More information is available here.

Please reach out to the nominating committee if you have questions or would like to learn more about this important leadership role.

Do not turn aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart. Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things He has done for you. (1 Samuel 12:20, 24)

Organ Fund Officially Closes Oct. 31

It is perhaps difficult to believe but we’re nearing the first anniversary of the installation of our new organ. Through your prayers and generous giving to the Organ Capital Project (i.e. Organ Fund), we were able to complete the project on-time and within our budget. The organ has been fully paid for. We are most appreciative of your sacrificial giving and the “sweat equity” of many on the installation side who made the project successful and enabled us glorify God through music.

With the project completed, our financial team has informed us that to comply with accounting rules we must close out the fund. Accordingly, the Vestry has voted to do so effective October 31, 2023. Any balance in the fund as of that date will be transferred to the General Fund and used to support church operations.

Enrichment Morsels From Marriage Ministry

As the fall begins and the holidays seem far away…consider a weekly date night to keep in touch with your spouse.

Share your thoughts and feelings, not just logistics and scheduling! Here are some questions to get you started.

  • How does my loving you help me experience God?
  • What do you think is our strongest feature as a couple?
  • Have I grown through this summer? What am I doing to prepare for the holiday season? How do I feel about that?

** Questions from Worldwide Marriage Encounter materials.

Epiphany’s Marriage Ministry Mentors are available to walk beside you in prayer and with marriage building resources.
