TOPIC: Prehospital Care of Operational K9s in the US: Legislation and Training Update.
Sean Majoy is a criticalist at Tufts Veterinary Emergency Treatment & Specialties and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in North Grafton, MA. Dr. Majoy may be considered a “Triple Jumbo”, having completed veterinary school, residency, and served as both full time and adjunct faculty at Tufts---home of the Jumbos. He is the current president of the National Association of Veterinary Emergency Medical Services and is very active in the statewide efforts to teach pre-hospital care of working dogs to emergency medical providers.
He has spent most of his veterinary career as an officer in the US Army Veterinary Corps, first serving on active duty for 12 years, a span which included two overseas assignments in Seoul, Korea and one assignment heading the internal medicine and outpatient section at the LTC Daniel E. Holland Military Working Dog Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. During the last 6 years he has served as a reservist, recently leading the last veterinary detachment in Afghanistan from 2020-2021. His primary areas of interest are management of trauma, surgical emergencies, and working dog medicine and care.
