Construction Update
Palmdale Veteran Enriched Neighborhood®
A huge thank you to each and every one of you who joined us for our 6th Annual Rainbow Build in September! This amazing event unites corporations, veterans, and the LGBTQA+ community in Homes 4 Families' mission to build resiliency, economic growth, neighborhoods, and homes for veteran families.
We are extremely grateful to everyone who faced the weather with us to advance the construction of the next six homes for our veterans and their families in the Palmdale Veteran Enriched Neighborhood®. Their efforts included building an arbor for the garden, constructing fences, planting, and framing!

We're thrilled to announce that the framing for Phase 5 of the Palmdale Veteran Enriched Neighborhood® is officially complete! Thank you to everyone who has supported this incredible community — we couldn't do it without you!
We are now in the process of completing rough electrical and rough plumbing for the six homes. By the end of the week, roofing and windows will be completely installed.

North Hollywood Veteran Enriched Neighborhood®
After months of dedicated effort from staff, engineers, architects, and the City of Los Angeles, we are pleased to announce that the street improvements on Elmer Avenue for our North Hollywood Veteran Enriched Neighborhood® are complete! A special thanks to Streets LA for providing $120,000 in funding to help bring this phase of the project to fruition.
In addition to the street work, we have been made substantial progress on-site. Over the past quarter, we have hosted several exciting TEAMBuilds, where our dedicated volunteers tackled the challenging tasks of grinding out a tree stump from the lot, removing an old chain-link fence, and installing a new vinyl fence around the site. But that's not all — thanks to our amazing team of volunteers, we are also in the process of installing a wrought iron fence on Elmer Avenue! We look forward to the next steps to this amazing project.

Join Us in Honoring Our Heroes: Support Veterans This Veterans Day!
While we are excited about the significant construction progress, we are also facing crucial challenges. Construction costs are continuing to rise, making it more difficult to bring these homes to life. At the same time, housing prices are also increasing, making the risk of homelessness an unfortunate reality for many military families. We believe that no veteran should face the threat of losing their home or living in unstable conditions.
In recognition of Veterans Day, we hope you will honor our service members with a donation that will provide stability and security to our heroes.

Family Services
Harvest Festival
Last month, our Family Services Department hosted its first Harvest Festival in the Palmdale community. The event was a delightful celebration featuring scrumptious food, engaging games, and plenty of laughter and camaraderie. A spirited Bake Off competition was held, where Hannah, one of our veteran spouses, was crowned the Bake Off Champion. The competition was close, with Kaylen, the daughter of one of our veterans, coming in as a close runner-up.
During the festivities, veterans of the community took part in the Veteran Hands, Healing Hands Community Mandela Project. This initiative draws inspiration from Lori Rothfus, whose goal is to leverage the transformative potential of art to uplift individuals and communities impacted by violence and trauma.
Present and future homeowners of the neighborhood came together to create a hand collage, serving as a meaningful symbol of unity and collaboration. By joining their hands, they celebrated their shared experiences and paid tribute to the connections that unite them as veterans. The collage will serve as an artistic representation of their collective spirit and commitment to fostering a safe and inspiring environment for everyone.

High Desert Medical Group Art Show
High Desert Medical Group invited Homes 4 Families to partner in their efforts to combat loneliness. On November 6, Homes 4 Families Veteran Service Specialists, Bonnie and Fritz, along with a few H4F Veteran artists, presented our My TIME® (My Trauma-Informed Military Enrichment) program to a group of community members at the HDMG Wellness Center. Loneliness and isolation across many population sectors has been identified as a national health emergency, but it is especially prevalent among veterans, seniors, and disabled populations. We hope that programs and awareness will be opportunities for connection and community.
If you're at High Desert Medical Group's main campus in Lancaster over the next week, stop by the Main Hallway to view some veteran art that was created in our program.

Funder Spotlight
Los Angeles Rams
| On Tuesday, October 29, more than 50 members of the Los Angeles Rams organization came out to help our North Hollywood Veteran Enriched Neighborhood®! They brought along nearly all their rookies, some cheerleaders, and even their mascot Rampage. This enthusiastic team helped install perimeter fencing, rough graded parts of the site, and removed some very stubborn tree trunks. These efforts were part of their long history of honoring veterans and active duty members of the military with their annual Salute to Service campaign. The Salute to Service campaign is designed to unify and elevate the extensive military appreciation work of the NFL and its clubs. Thank you to the entire team and good luck against the Patriots on Sunday! | | |
