Palmdale Veteran Enriched Neighborhood®

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2nd Annual Build 4 Vets on February 8th in the Palmdale Veteran Enriched Neighborhood®. This incredible event provides unity, appreciation, and support for veterans as we work to build homes for low-income veteran families.

The day was filled with a lot of hard work and determination! Together, we installed fences and added fire sprinkler insulation, all while making a significant difference in the lives of veteran families. Each effort contributed to a greater cause, showcasing our commitment to serving those who have sacrificed for our country. It was truly a memorable day of service and achievement.

We are also excited to share the remarkable progress in Phase 5. The irrigation system is fully complete and the HVAC condensers installation is nearly finished. These accomplishments bring us closer to completing the next phase of homes, with drywall installation planned for next month!

To contribute to the progress within our community, we invite you to participate in our annual Women's Empowerment (WE) Build on May 3rd, 2025. This event brings together over 350 women to serve and honor brave female veterans. Join us for this inspiring occasion as we help six veteran families in completing their new homes!

Garden Club

A successful start to the new year! The recent Garden Club event for our Palmdale Veteran Enriched Neighborhood® marked a resounding success, setting a positive tone for the new beginning of 2025. The event accomplished three key objectives that significantly improved the shared garden space and fostered a sense of community and collaboration.

Volunteers of the Habitat for Humanity Club of UCLA, veterans and their families worked together to revitalize the garden by replanting new fruit trees. The team successfully implemented anti-pest measures by installing barriers and other blockades to safeguard the garden from common pests, ensuring the continued health and productivity of the garden. With Spring around the corner, 100 lily bulbs were planted throughout the garden beds which will be harvested and given to the neighborhood.

This project highlights the healing potential of trauma-informed gardening. For veterans, working in a garden provides a calming and restorative environment, helping reduce stress and anxiety while fostering mindfulness and connection with nature. Gardens designed with an understanding of trauma can promote healing through physical activity, sensory engagement, and opportunities for social interaction, all of which are vital for mental and emotional well-being.

Join together for veterans! Your donation will help build homes and future for low-income veterans and military families.
