VFW Accredited Veteran Service Officers:

VA accredited service officers and pre-discharge representatives who are experts in dealing with the VA and are the key to your success. Our cadre of highly-trained and professional advocates help veterans cut through bureaucratic red tape. VA reports veterans represented by the VFW have recouped more than $9.7 billion in earned benefits, including $1.4 billion in new claims in fiscal year 2020 alone.

VFW Service Officers are trained experts, helping veterans develop their case with ease by reviewing and applying current law, pertinent legislation, regulations and medical histories. As skilled professionals, we assist in filing for disability compensation, rehabilitation and education programs, pension and death benefits, and employment and training programs. Furthermore, we won’t hesitate to request hearings before the VA and the Board of Veterans Appeals to present oral arguments when needed.

VFW Service Officers are with America's veterans every step of the way once they're ready to file a claim. This is a service the VFW is proud to offer -- free of charge -- to anyone seeking assistance with the claims process.

Legislation:

Over the last few years, the VFW has successful advocated for legislation that significantly improved the lives of troops, veterans and families. Here in NJ here were recently able to change the State Constitution to provide property tax relief for all veterans, provide state income tax relief for all veterans, enacted laws that will protect the lives of veterans, spouses and Gold Star parents in the state operated veteran homes in the future, along with many other benefits.

The VFW along with the Disabled American Veterans have successfully been able to introduce legislation that will provide property tax relief to those with a VA rated disability. Similar legislation has been introduced for decades, which excluded many disabled veterans and failed. Our bills (S-2285 & A-3604) includes all veterans with a VA rating, including renters which would benefit our younger transitioning veterans and those with a lower income. These bills are moving swiftly and had a hearing in record time, 21 days after introduction. We ask that you contact your legislator and as them to co-sponsor these bills. Your state legislator can be found HERE

Your membership is important to us, it gives us the strength to successfully advocate for your benefits in Washington & Trenton.

STATE COMMANDER'S PROJECT:

Our State Commander Luddie Austin has chosen two recipients for his project, The Sgt Ryan Doltz Memorial Foundation, and the VFW Veterans Assistance Program. These programs lend a hand up to veterans and families in need, keep veterans out of crisis by keeping a roof over their head and food on the table, and provide scholarships to the children of our fallen.

Any donation - even $5.00 - will help a brother or sister in need. Please give today vfwnj.org/cmdrproject
