Veterans Build Committee Member Earl Shafer served more than 30 years in the US Air Force and participates in several veterans groups in Snohomish County. Earl volunteers regularly in the Lynnwood Habitat Store.

Introducing our Veterans Build committee

Habitat for Humanity Veterans Build program is a national initiative to engage veterans, Gold Star Families and current service members and their families. We are thrilled to have a committed group of volunteers supporting our Habitat Snohomish Veterans Build program! Most of the committee volunteers are veterans or family members of active duty military. Some of our committee members are also involved in other veterans groups such as the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Memorial Day Veterans Build Event, May 25

Join Snohomish County veterans, active duty military, and their families to help build a modest 2-bedroom home for a low-income family in Gold Bar. No experience required! Half-day shifts are available and a complimentary lunch will be served. > Morning build shift: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. > Luncheon: 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. > Afternoon build shift: 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Michael G. Ryan, an internationally recognized artist , will speak at the luncheon. Michael has assisted charities in raising more than $10 million through donations of his celebrity portraits. Jessica Hebert will also share her story as a Gold Star Family member of the first Snohomish County soldier to lose his life in Iraq.

Home Buyer Seminar for Veterans, June 15

Habitat Snohomish is offering a seminar for veterans dreaming of owning their own home. Topics will include setting realistic goals, careful planning and understanding the costs of both purchasing, and maintaining a home. Habitat Snohomish is hosting our first Women Build event at the Gold Bar site this June. Women Build is a Habitat for Humanity initiative for women to empower families through building affordable, safe and decent homes in their local communities. Join us in making a positive, women-led impact while learning new skills or improving your expertise.
