Convenient Training Dates & Locations!
The Vibration Institute is excited to announce their 2019 training schedule with new locations and a full line-up of training opportunities. Now is the perfect time to book your training or your staff's training for the year!

The Vibration Institute offers Vibration Analysis training and CAT I - IV certification, as well as a Field Balancing Specialist certification.
ISO 18436 Category I - Introduction to Machinery Vibration
This course prepares registered students to perform a range of simple, single channel machinery vibration condition monitoring and diagnostic activities. It is recommended for individuals as an introduction to machinery vibrations and as partial preparation for the ISO 18436-2:2014 Vibration Analyst Category I Certification Exam. Workshops and demonstrations are scheduled throughout the training course to reaffirm curricular theory and applications.
ISO 18436 Category II - Basic Machinery Vibration
This course prepares attendees to perform a range of simple, single channel machinery vibration condition monitoring and diagnostic activities. It is recommended for individuals as an introduction to machinery vibrations and as partial preparation for the ISO 18436-2:2014 Vibration Analyst Category II Certification Exam. Workshops and demonstrations are scheduled throughout the training course to reaffirm curricular theory and applications.
ISO 18436 Category III - Machinery Vibration Analysis
This course is partial preparation for the ISO 18436-2:2014 Vibration Analyst Category III Certification Exam. This class meets the 38 hour training requirement to sit for the exam, but the Vibration Institute strongly recommends candidates also take Balancing of Rotating Machinery Training Class prior to taking the Category III exam.
Balancing of Rotating Machinery
This course covers single and basic two-plane balancing techniques. It includes both field balancing and shop (balancing machine) balancing. Topics included are pre-balance checks, influence coefficients, balance quality and tolerances, residual unbalance testing and case histories. It is partial preparation for the Vibration Analyst Category III and IV, and Balancing Specialist Certification Exams.
ISO 18436 Category IV (3 courses)
Advanced vibration Analysis
This course teaches a wide array of advanced vibration analysis techniques including two-channel analysis, advanced signal processing, modal analysis, operating deflection shape (ODS), synchronous time averaging, and torsional vibration. It is partial preparation for the ISO 18436-2:2014 Vibration Analyst Category IV Certification Exam. Workshops and demonstrations are scheduled throughout the training course to exemplify curricular theory and applications.
Advanced Vibration Control
This course is targeted at solving complex vibration problems involving transient and forced vibrations; resonance, isolation and damping. It is partial preparation for the ISO 18436-2:2014 Vibration Analyst Category IV Certification Exam. Workshops and demonstrations are scheduled throughout the training course to exemplify curricular theory and applications.
Practical Rotor Dynamics & Modeling
This course teaches both practical and theoretical modeling of rotating systems and rotating machinery using journal and rolling element bearings. The Practical Rotor Dynamics and Modeling course is recommended as partial preparation for the ISO 18436-2:2014 Vibration Analyst Category IV Certification Exam. Workshops and demonstrations are scheduled throughout the training course to exemplify curricular theory and applications. Attendees must bring their own laptop for the best learning experience.
Vibration Diagnositics using Modal and ODS Analysis
This training course is an advanced level diagnostic course that teaches the use of experimental modal and operating deflection shape testing techniques to diagnose and solve vibration problems. It does not include software specific training. It is meant to complement the VI “Applied Modal & ODS Analysis” class that does provide ME’Scope training. The course presents digital signal analysis and advanced vibration control techniques, together with experimental modal and ODS.
Practical Modal Analysis Training Course with ME’scope
We are offering a modal analysis training course that will focus on training for use of ME’scopeTM modal analysis and operating deflection shape (ODS) animation software. The course will be offered in Houston, Texas and will focus on attendees using current software as part of the course to gain proficiency with the tools. Additional instructors will join the class for the last two days to ensure high-quality student experience and learning.
