🛍️ Celebrate Small Business Week! 🛒

May 3rd - May 9th

Last night we kicked off the Eat and Shop Local Campaign with numerous small Fort Lauderdale businesses. Our dedicated Economic Development division shared the numerous resources the City has available to help entrepreneurs and small businesses meet their goals. Specifically SizeUp FTL, a free business intelligence platform designed to give small businesses data to assist their growth.

Business Owners: Register your business here to the Eat & Shop Local campaign to be featured in the City’s official digital directory, searchable by residents and visitors citywide.

Neighbors: Participate in Small Business Week! Find a new small business to support this week by trying out SizeUp FTL!

I was glad to have the opportunity to speak with the Urban Land Institute for Resilience and Sustainability Day and highlight the important work underway in Fort Lauderdale. We are actively strengthening our stormwater infrastructure, we have expanded our waterway monitoring sites, and have begun source tracing at select locations to better identify the origins of bacteria in our waterways. We’ve made meaningful progress in building resilience, and I was honored to exchange ideas with such an engaged and thoughtful group.

I had a wonderful time celebrating Fort Lauderdale Cares Day last weekend! This city-wide day of volunteer service brings people together through meaningful community activities, and it’s something I look forward to every year. It’s always inspiring to see the spirit of generosity and connection that helps make our city stronger. I’m truly grateful to everyone who stepped up to share their time, energy, and compassion in service of others.

Please feel welcome to contact me with any questions, ideas, or concerns. You can reach me at bsorensen@fortlauderdale.gov or contact my office at (954)-828-5028.

Fort Lauderdale's Riverwalk Secures #8 Spot in USA TODAY’s 10 Best Readers' Choice Awards

USA Today named OUR riverwalk as one of the top 10 across the nation, siting our free water trolley services, attractive dining options, and our historic destinations as a few reasons. No surprise to me! Our residents and local businesses give our downtown and Riverwalk the character and liveliness that attracts visitors from across the nation.
