Vicki Fitzgerald 1954 - 2010

Oak Cliff lost a treasure and tireless advocate on Monday. Our dear friend Vicki Fitzgerald died after a year long courageous fight with oral cancer. We offer our love and prayers to her husband Richard and her sons Brandon and Justin and all of her family whom she loved with all her heart.

There aren't many of us who do not have a stray dog now because of Vicki. Vicki would stop 4 lanes of traffic to chase a stray dog. Many a conversation would begin, "Do you want a dog? I have the cutest one in the backyard.".

Vicki has been involved with the Old Oak Cliff Conservation League for 8 years including running 5 home tours. Vicki was a force in all the lives she touched. She made you rise to the occasion and try harder because she gave so much of herself.

Vicki thought the Home Tour was an ambassador for Oak Cliff and thought it important for it to be the best it could be every year to change minds elsewhere about this place we all call home.

The tour logo of "Oh Oak Cliff" was a play on words she loved. When telling a person you would meet that you lived in Oak Cliff they would say "Oh" with a sense of fear and pity for you but when they actually came here, they would say "Oh" as in "How nice, I didn't expect this". Vicki loved that reaction.

We will all miss her so very much.

We love you Vicki.

There will be a service and graveside service.
