Victoria Vox
Victoria Vox
’s musical style is romantic, catchy, tinged with jazz, and filled with soul. Her stage persona is personable, goofy and engaging. And as soon as she opens her mouth to sing, the emotion and inspiration pour out. Her melodic and cleverly-written songs are undeniably genuine and full of heart.
Vox’s rhythmic ukulele style gives her a back-beat “drum effect,” and her perfect and popular “Mouth Trumpet” captures the style, influence and improvisational excitement of her trumpet hero, Chet Baker. This unlikely combination of talents landed her on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 2009 and on the cover of the Wall Street Journal in 2015. Vox’s music has been featured on NPR and used in independent films. In addition to winning awards for her songwriting in both French and English, she also has written and donated songs to the American Asperger’s Association, the Duchenne Foundation, and ocean conservancy groups.
Victoria Vox generates loads of fun with every performance, seamlessly entwined with the heartfelt compassion and honesty she brings to every song.
This is a rare treat.
You never want to miss a Victoria Vox performance.

Pandemic Hosting
If you never had the energy or desire to host a dinner party, you may want to reconsider. Things have changed.
With the warm weather comes an opportunity to invite friends over for dinner on the patio. Make sure you don't clean, vacuum, or even straighten up the house because nowadays even burglars won't enter. And remember not to cook. Guests will treat your food like poison, and, in fact, they should. They'll bring their own. Setting the table is old school. Nobody's touching your plates and utensils.
And if you think someone's putting their lips anywhere near your napkins, call the local cable company - your newscasts are three months out of date.
Finally, don't make our recent mistake - showering for visitors. Anybody who gets within smelling distance - about three feet - is a lethal threat and must receive both an audible and nasal warning.
If you've never hosted a dinner party, now's the time. It's never been easier.
There is, however, another kind of pandemic hosting that takes preparation, attention to detail, and the special kind of person who finds reward in serving their community and its beloved performers.
Gary Pratt
and
Deborah Graham
are now hosting your Stayaway e-concerts every Tuesday and Friday. They are beloved members of the Folk Project community. You may know them as core contributors on the Acoustic Getaway team. If you haven't met them, you should. They're good people.
Lots of time, love and effort go into the Stayaway's temporary reboot of the Folk Project schedule. Gary and Deborah are generous volunteers and dear friends, stepping up and taking over some of the many responsibilities and duties. Thanks to them.

RagTag No. 16
A Series by Roger Deitz
Be Prepared
|
I've been waiting four days to receive this RagTag. Thanks, Roger.
Here's another in our humorous series of RagTag ramblings by esteemed chronicler of folk music culture Roger Deitz. These were originally published in Sing Out! Magazine and are collected in Roger's book "15 Years of RagTag" with illustrations by Ed Courrier.

Outside is the best side. Spring means we can visit safely. Visit friends, but remember: Just because you love them doesn't mean they're safe.
Enjoy the new weather,
