Summer Rappaport
June, 2019
Hello friends!

We are nearly at the half-way point of the 2019 season and I'm really happy to have earned my eighth career World Cup victory in Huatulco on Sunday. I opted to race Huatulco because it is one of the few races on the circuit with conditions similar to what we expect to experience at our first Olympic Qualifying Event in Tokyo in August. It was encouraging to put together a strong race in those conditions!

I'm currently training Font Romeu, France ahead of my next race in Hamburg, Germany on July 6. Then it's on to Edmonton, Tokyo, and Lausanne! Thank you for following my journey!

"Rappaport proved to be unbeatable today and hit the blue carpet, in commanding form, to win the women’s race." ~ Courtney Akrigg for Triathlon.org.

Race highlights:
"It was really tough. I came into today wanting to execute on some things at this level, that I want to start doing at the WTS level, as well as getting some more experience in the heat leading into Tokyo because we expect similar conditions to today in Huatulco. My main goal was to have a race that I could be proud of and I am really proud as I was able to execute those things and come away with the win." ~ Summer

2nd - Yokohama WTS
May 18, Japan
"Rio Olympian Katie Zaferes led a podium sweep at a World Triathlon Series event in Yokohama, Japan, on Saturday. She was followed by two would-be first-time Olympians, Summer Rappaport and Taylor Spivey...Rappaport (née Cook) led the last U.S. sweep two weeks after the Rio Games." ~ NBC Sports

race highlights:
“I had a really difficult 2018, and my first WTS in Abu Dhabi (this season) didn’t go as I had hoped. I’ve been working hard, and I’ve seen a lot of gains, but I just wasn’t able to transfer it into my racing,” Rappaport said. “Today I was able to work with myself and make everything click. I feel like I just saw my work finally come through.” ~ Summer
