Dear familia,

There's a phrase communities use when something extraordinary occurs, something that forces people to notice them: "It put us on the map." The implication is that before the event, the community was somehow there but not there, present but unrecognized. This can be an apt description of communities in the south Bronx.

This past year, our students "put us on the map" with their tireless work ethic, their academic perseverance against the odds of the pandemic and remote-learning, their eloquence and hopefulness for the future. I'm excited to share the below brief video highlighting media coverage of our high school students (many of them now "young alumni") and their accomplishments this past school-year.
