Effective Monday 5/4 our onsite open hours will begin at 12 noon (instead of at 11am).
Lunch, produce, bread, and food pantry pick-ups will be available onsite Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 12-3pm.
While a bit counter-intuitive, we are reducing onsite open hours in order to provide more food to more people! As I've shared, we have been preparing and serving 50% more lunches than before COVID-19, and over the last two weeks have been running out. Due to social distancing, we can only have a few people in the kitchen or packaging groceries for delivery at any one time. This extra hour will allow us to prepare and serve up to 200 lunches per day, prepare more deliveries for additional families, and we are confident we can still serve the same number of people onsite.

Community Legal Aid:
New Unemployment Claims Initiative
|
As we all know, COVID-19 has thrown thousands of people out of work in our area, and most of them have applied, or tried to apply for unemployment insurance (UI). We at Community Legal Aid have been very busy helping people who have applied and have run into problems. But we realize that because the only realistic way to apply for UI is through their online claim system, the process is very challenging for people with limited English proficiency or limited access to or ability to use the technology
, For that reason, we have now started a project, using trained volunteers, including lawyers and law students, to file claims for people not able to manage the process on their own.
Of course, we continue to be available to help people who have gotten the process started themselves but have run into difficulty.

Tapestry is here to help, and we’re not going anywhere during COVID-19
“The issues that Tapestry addresses —such as the opioid epidemic, the risk of HIV-infections, and lack of access to basic needs like food, contraception, and screening for infection — are exacerbated by a crisis like this that drives people apart and makes service delivery more difficult. In response to this pandemic we have evolved the way we provide care.” Cheryl Zoll, Tapestry CEO.

This declaration supersedes the previous Emergency Declaration, EM-3438, granted to the Commonwealth of MA by the President on March 13, 2020. The Major Disaster Declaration, like the Emergency Declaration, authorizes only Category B, Emergency Protective Measures; making federal funding available to local governments, state agencies, and eligible private non-profit organizations in all counties.
