Your Bill of Rights in a Time of Resistance
We are really excited about this two-part workshop being lead by Robert Appel. Robert is a go-to for constitutional knowledge and citizen/protester rights. In this time of resistance, more than ever, it is critical that we know our rights!

Tuesdays, May 9 and 16, 5:30-7:30. See more details about the logistics and the content that will be focused on in the facebook event. Space is limited so please preregister here. Pick up your free copy of the Constitution at PJC when you sign up.
Fair Trade Day from inside a Banana Suit!
There really is no better way to learn about and discuss fair trade than from the inside of an Equal Exchange banana suit. Last year at Burlington's World Fair Trade Day Celebration, I had the opportunity to do just that....

Consumer education and demand is the key to derailing market practices that capitalize and thrive on the perpetuation of the cycle of poverty.

Community Reading of MLK Speech: "Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence"
We are excited to be partnering with two national campaigns -- The Vietnam Peace Commemorative Committee and the YWCA's Stand Against Racism program -- for this special event. We will gather for food, camaraderie and a reading of this controversial speech that Dr Martin Luther King, Jr gave one year before his death. Rev. Arnold Thomas from Riverside Baptist Church will be in attendance and we hope you will too!

Thursday, May 4, 5:30pm, Arts Riot, Burlington.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr gives his speech "Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence."

"One of Martin Luther King Jr.'s lesser known yet equally impactful speeches, 'Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence,' condemns the violence and atrocities committed by the U.S against the Vietnamese in their foolish bid to stop the spread of communism in Southeast Asia. He highlights the intricacies and parallels of the war waged in Vietnam and against the poor in the U.S as one reflected in the interactions between the three threats facing democracy - racism, classism, and militarism."

Kira Nemeth, PJC's Programming Intern, shares more thoughts here.
