Yesterday (Sunday) was hard on grandpa and grandma Ray as our son Daniel Ray and wife Carrliegh and two of our grandchildren (Molly and Peter) set off to Amsterdam to serve as long term missionaries.  We are excited for their calling and their faithfulness to follow it.  Times have changed from the time that Monica and I were stationed in Japan from 1988 - 1991.  There was no internet, cell phone or Facetime to stay connected to family. You wrote letters and sent cassette tapes with family talking.  However, early this morning Daniel Facetime us and we got too hear and see our family and the grandkids didn't have a clue just how far apart we are from one another.

I am thankful for the technology we have today to stay connected to family, friends as well as staying connected to one another in ministry.  To be able to have someone voice a prayer request or need and have multiple people praying and serving is wonderful.  To be able to share a victory or struggle and have groups of people celebrating or providing comfort is a blessing.  At Tri-Rivers Baptist Area we have multiple platforms for churches and ministers to stay connected and for that I am grateful.  However, even with all this technology we still have to make an effort to stay connected.  We still have to take interest in others more than ourselves.  Our focus cannot be how I am doing in life or ministry, but how others are doing in life and in ministry.  We are in this together to serve one another as we serve the Lord, so that we can be more effective in building God's Kingdom.  Technology is only a tool and a tool is only as good as the one using it.  Let us use this technology to stay connected as a "Brotherhood of Churches", but let us never forget the greatest tool we have and that is the tool of prayer as we pray to God on behalf of one another.  I am grateful that I was able to see and hear my grandchildren this morning from the other side of the world, however, I am more grateful that I have the ability to pray for them, because I know that prayer never fails and the connection is always good.

This past week, was busy assisting church leadership in preparation of camps and VBS 's in performing background checks and child sexual awareness training for area churches.  We also spent time preparing for the Tri-Rivers Baptist Area free Preteen/Youth Boys and Girl camps hosted at the Tri-Rivers Retreat Center.  On Sunday I was blessed to worship and preach at FBC Gatesville followed by attending the Retirement of Pastor Tim Crosby and wife Darinda of Trinity Baptist Church and that afternoon I was honored to worship and preach at True Vine Fellowship Church in Hico.  It was a day of worship, honoring a faithful servant and sharing the Word of God.

This week, we continue to assist church as they prepare to share God's Word through Camps and VBS's.  I will also be assisting a VBS this week hosted by Fairy Baptist Church.  This Friday and Saturday, I will be preaching a Revival Service at Clariette Baptist Church (see promotional flyer in this newsletter).  This Sunday evening I will be worshipping and preaching at Selden Baptist Church.

This weekend, the Tri-Rivers Retreat Center hosted the second of 14 consecutive weeks of Ministry Retreats, various Camps and Conferences.  God has blessed Tri-Rivers Baptist Area with this unique ministry facility and I am grateful for all the churches and individuals who contribute to make this possible.  The Tri-Rivers Retreat Center continues to serve our Area Churches and multiple ministries in providing a place to gather to be strengthen in the Lord.  Remember there is no cost to use your Tri-Rivers Retreat Center because of your churches ongoing support. Make your reservations at

On Saturday, August 7th a Dallas Holm Benefit Concert will be hosted at the Tri-Rivers Retreat Center "Boyd Chapel" with all ticket sales and donations going toward the payoff of the Bank Note of the Tri-Rivers Retreat Center.  We are asking $100 donation per ticket.  Find out more information in this newsletter or on the website.

If your youth or church is seeking a Lawncare Local Mission Project this summer we are seeking those who would like to mow and weed the Tri-Rivers Retreat Center.  We conduct all our lawncare Monday - Wednesday of each week.  If your group would like to select a week to keep the Retreat Center looking good it would be greatly appreciated.  The Retreat Center has it's own lawncare equipment but we always welcome additional equipment to make the time fly by quicker.
The Payoff of the Retreat Center has received Pledges and Gifts in the amount of $17,200 received from Area Churches and Individuals. We (Area Churches) purchased this facility for $420,000 in September 2017 and as of March 1 we owe approximately $170,000. When the Retreat Center is paid off it will allow these funds to be released to serve our Area Churches. You can view the Goal Calculator and those who have given or pledged to give on the Tri-Rivers website:
Please take time to view the newsletter for additional ministry and mission opportunities. It is always a joy to serve you so please do not hesitate to contact your Tri-Rivers Area office if you need assistance or information regarding all your ministry needs.

Tri-Rivers Baptist Area is partnering with Restoration Advocates, Inc. as we continue to minister to victims of Domestic Violence.

Restoration Advocates exists to provide the care and support necessary for women, and their dependent children, who are victims of domestic violence and other dangers that place them at risk of life or physical harm and/or deprive them of their overall safety and sense of well-being.  Our mission is for every woman in an unsafe home to have the confidence, as well as the resources, to independently support herself and her children.
To that end, we have established a safe haven called Restoration Place, where survivors of family violence can live in safety as they restore their lives to health and happiness.  Restoration Place provides emergency housing for women and children in crisis and we also offer transitional housing for a period of up to two years if that is needed for the family to be fully independent and self-supporting.  Learn More HERE
