Richard Ray_ Director of Missions for Tri-Rivers Baptist Area Weekly Report
I first want to invite you to the Tri-Rivers Baptist Area Sponsored Seminar on
Alzheimer's Disease "Second Forgetting - Remembering the Power of the Gospel during Alzheimer's Disease", featuring Pastor Pete Pharis as our guest instructor this
Saturday, March 30 from 9 am - 1 pm at the Tri-Rivers Retreat Center. Lunch will be provided. He will speak on the following topics: What is Second Forgetting/Understanding Alzheimer's Disease, The Gospel for those with Alzheimer's, The Challenges of Giving Care/God's Grace for Caregivers and Alzheimer's and the Church. See more information and how to register in this newsletter.
Pre-Register early for the 2nd Annual Tri-Rivers Pre-Teen/Youth Camps. Space is limited as we have already received multiple pre-registrations. Remember the Cost is free, but space is limited, so please register your students early. Pre-Registration is simple, we just need the name of the church and how many you think will attend. On April 30th, we will send out Camp Packets to each pre-registered church to confirm their pre-registered numbers and to officially register their students. See this newsletter for additional information and how and where to pre-register or you can call your Tri-Rivers Area Office for assistance.
This past week, your Tri-Rivers Retreat Center hosted Eastwood Baptist Church youth retreat. This week we stay busy taping and floating the interior of the chapel while the AC/Heat Units are installed. If you would like to volunteer your time and talent to your Chapel, please let me know.
On Sunday, my wife and I were honored to worship at Purmela Baptist Church with new pastor Jairus McKamie and wife Leanna. It was a wonderful worship service and the message was both encouraging and challenging. Please keep them in your prayers as they serve this church and community all for the sake of Jesus Christ.
This week, I will be meeting with several pastors and church leadership to assist them in ministry. On Saturday, we are hosting the Alzheimer's Seminar. On Sunday, I will be preaching at Naruna Baptist Church. Sunday afternoon, I will be spending time with our Domestic Violence Advocates at the Area Office and Sunday Evening I will be attending a city-wide church service in Hico, TX.
If you would like to serve as a Domestic Violence Advocate come this Sunday to the Area Office in Gatesville (502 E. Main Street) at 3:30 pm to learn how you can serve those who are hurting and are in need of healing.
Until next week, please view the newsletter to stay updated on all that is happening through your Tri-Rivers Baptist Area. Take time this week, to plant the seed of Salvation in someone.

Until next week, "When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, "Who then can be saved?" 26 Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." - Matthew 19:25-26

Chuckle: "Insomnia is contagious; if your baby has it, chances are you will have it too!!"
Quote: "If his conditions are met, God is bound by his Word to forgive any man or woman of any sin because of Christ."--Billy Graham

"Now turn from your sins and turn to God, so you can be cleansed of your sins" (Acts 3:19 NLT). "And I will give you a new heart with new and right desires, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony heart of sin and give you a new, obedient heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so you will obey my laws and do whatever I command" (Ezekiel 36:26-27 NLT).
What a beautiful picture of God's love and plan for the life of every human being. God had Ezekiel record for us an Old Testament image of the New Testament plan of salvation through faith in Christ. When we place our faith in Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior, God, through his Spirit, creates within us a new nature. ". . . you have clothed yourselves with a brand-new nature that is continually being renewed as you learn more and more about Christ, who created this new nature within you" (Colossians 3:10 NLT). In the life of a Christian, there is a continuous battle between the old sinful nature and the new nature God has given us.
"So I advise you to live according to your new life in the Holy Spirit. Then you won't be doing what your sinful nature craves. The old sinful nature loves to do evil, which is just opposite from what the Holy Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are opposite from what the sinful nature desires. The two forces are constantly fighting each other, and your choices are never free from this conflict"
(Galatians 5:16-17 NLT).
Over the course of time, the way we live is dependent upon which nature we choose to give control over our lives. If the old nature wins, we will drift away from God and the joy of a daily walk and fellowship with him. When this happens, we lose interest in attending church, we stop studying God's Word, We stop praying, and we stop enjoying the fellowship of other Christians. If you find yourself in this situation, you need a renewal of commitment to God. You need revival. You may need to pray as did the psalmist: "Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me" (Psalm 51:10 NLT).
"A man once came to Gipsy Smith, the celebrated English evangelist of an earlier time, and asked him how to have revival. Gipsy asked, 'Do you have a place where you can pray?' 'Yes,' was the reply. 'Tell you what to do, you go to that place and take a piece of chalk along. Kneel down there, and with the chalk draw a complete circle all around you -- and pray to God to send revival on everything inside the circle. Stay there until He answers -- and then you will have revival.'"
Every Christian can claim the promise of I John 1:9: "But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong." By admitting our sins and receiving Christ's cleansing, we are (1) agreeing with God that our sin is truly sin and that we are willing to turn away from it, (2) ensuring that we don't try to conceal our sins from him and consequently from ourselves, and (3) recognizing our tendency to sin and relying on his power to help us overcome it.
Love, Jerry & Dotse

Rural Churches Ministry Summer 2019 Intern

We are the sister churches of White Mound Baptist and Mound Cowboy Church located southeast of Gatesville in Coryell County, Texas, about 38 miles from Baylor University. We are seeking a single summer intern or married couple as summer interns to minister to children and younger youth in our country churches. A rural background is not a prerequisite. Interns need a loving heart to see children grow closer to Christ. Ministry opportunities include Wednesday nights, in a teaching and recreation time, and Sunday mornings, teaching during Sunday School. Planning special recreation events to be with children in a fun setting has been a summer tradition. Interns will participate in our week of evening Vacation Bible School and will accompany 3rd through 6th grade children to Kidz Kamp at Latham Springs July 18-22. A first year of taking kids to junior high camp is another vision for this summer. God is speaking to our children. Several have made decisions to follow Christ in the past few months, and this summer would be opportunity to disciple these children. We envision a minimum of 20 hours per week at $12.50 to $15.00 per hour from May 19 to August 11.
The intern should be able to do the job and take summer seminary classes, also. Depending on the intern's gifts, call to ministry, and time, opportunity to preach two to three times and accompany our Bivocational pastor on pastoral visits is possible. Interested students may contact the pastor, Dr. Bruce Cox, at by February 21st.
