BCHD was adaptable and resourceful, assisting individual Beach Cities residents, fellow employees and the larger South Bay community by providing testing, vaccines and health and wellness tips and resources.

The Annual Report highlights our COVID-19 successes and the programs and services provided to the community.

BCHD Receives Funds for COVID-19 Efforts
In January, Beach Cities Health District was awarded $1,130,937 in COVID-19 relief funding from the California Dept. of Finance. The 2021 Budget Act appropriated $100 million from the General Fund to provide fiscal relief to independent special districts for revenue losses and/or unanticipated costs incurred due to the COVID-19 public health emergency. Detailed information can be found at the Department of Finance page, titled COVID-19 Fiscal Relief for Special Districts

To date, BCHD has been reimbursed $2,111,168 for its COVID-19 vaccination, testing, health communications, errands and help line efforts, with funds coming from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the State of California, CalVax and the three school districts in the Beach Cities. BCHD is continuing to apply for available COVID-19 relief funds.

At the time of a national emergency, government entities at all levels provide a unified, national response that required the District to disseminate its emergency response equitably to the local community, including people who work or live in the District and others who needed emergency assistance, not limited to residents of the Health District.
