Dear Mount Pleasant residents and business owners,
 
I hope your new year is off to a great start! We are busier than ever at Town Hall and around the community. 2019 is sure to be our best year yet. Please join us in celebrating Black History Month with events every week this coming month. And that's not all, we have several major campaigns under way including our "Be the Solution, not the Pollution" campaign aimed at making our town more environmentally-friendly. Businesses and citizens are asked to pitch in and help us be better tomorrow than we are today. For more information, keep reading below.

Street Sign Replacement Program
To meet Federal Highway Administration requirements, the Mount Pleasant Transportation and Public Services departments have partnered in a joint street sign replacement program. The capital improvement project will replace about 7,500 signs over the next five years. The Street Sign Replacement Program will include all street signs within the Town, with the exclusion of private roads and sideways. Existing signs will be removed if they are considered redundant or do not meet standards. Additional signs may be added where deemed applicable.

February 8: Sock Hop (Grades 4-5) | 5:30-8 PM | Park West Rec Complex Gym | $6/person
 
Grades 4-5 are invited to dance the night away at this popular MPRD event. MPRD staff will chaperone and a DJ will provide the music. Concessions will be available. Advance registration only (available for all seven sock hops). No registration taken at the sock hop.
 
February 15: Dive-In Movie (Lady and the Tramp) |6:30 - 8:00 p.m. | Park West Pool | Free!

February 25: Summer Camp Registration | 8 AM | ONLINE & IN PERSON
 
Summer camp registration opens Monday, February 25th at 8:00 a.m.! Register online or in person at the R.L. Jones Center, Park West Recreation Complex, or G.M. Darby Building. Registration is ongoing and ends when camps fill up. Stay tuned to our Facebook event page and our Facebook page for summer camp tips, updates, highlights, and more! March 2: Jim Ryckman Senior Basketball Tournament | 9 AM | Park West Gym
 
The Mount Pleasant Recreation Department is calling all senior basketball players, ages 50 and up, to sign up 3-player teams for the Jim Ryckman 3 vs. 3 Senior Basketball Tournament on Saturday, March 2, 2019. Don't wait until it's too late! Registration closes February 23.

Town Administrator's Mobile Office Hours
 

Join our Town Administrator for some coffee and conversation at the next Mobile Office Hours event on February 19, 2019  from 7:30 - 8:30 am at Saveurs Du Monde Cafe (1960 Long Grove Dr.). Each month, the Town Administrator holds open office hours at various locations around the community. All citizens are invited to stop by and discuss items of interest to them.  No appointment necessary. For more information about this program, visit the Mobile Office Hours webpage or call (843) 884 - 8517.

The Request for Applications (RFA) for Charleston County's and the City of North Charleston's PY2019 Urban Entitlement funding is now available. Click HERE for more info. Application due February 1st.

Community Investment Applications
The Town of Mount Pleasant has released its new Community Investment application for FY 2020 (July 1, 2019 - June 30, 2020.) Applications are due February 1, 2019. Click HERE for more info. Application due February 1st.

Mount Pleasant Farmers Market Applications
Interested farmers and food vendors are encouraged to submit applications for the 2019 Town of Mount Pleasant Farmers Market.Applications can be found online at  www.experiencemountpleasant.com. The market season runs April 2 through Sept. 24 and includes approximately 40 vendor spaces.Applications are due February 2nd.
