Town Hall Track Temporary Closure

The Town Hall track and a portion of the adjoining parking lot area are slated to be closed from June 1 through July 4, 2018, as Charles Blanchard Construction Corporation works to construct several sections of the new Town Hall Gym.

Expected to open by the end of the year, the new Town Hall Gym will bring new courts for basketball, volleyball, and pickleball. The gym will also feature restrooms that will be accessible from both the exterior and interior of the building, providing much-needed facilities for those using the track as well as the gym.
Street Sign Replacement Program
To meet Federal Highway Administration requirements, the Mount Pleasant Transportation and Public Services departments have partnered in a joint street sign replacement program. The capital improvement project will replace about 7,500 signs over the next five years. The Street Sign Replacement Program will include all street signs within the Town, with the exclusion of private roads and sideways. Existing signs will be removed if they are considered redundant or do not meet standards. Additional signs may be added where deemed applicable.

Summer Pond Maintenance Tips
Summer is here which means there is a higher risk for fish kills and algae in our ponds. It is only when rain water picks up nutrients from roads and lawns that it builds-up enough nutrients to grow large blooms or mats of algae; therefore, stormwater ponds develop algae growth mainly in response to the fertilizers and wastes from lawns and paved surfaces.
How do we prevent this?  Pond maintenance and individual practices can help!  A bubbler in a pond can prevent stagnant water from getting smelly and causing a lack of oxygen.  Properly applying fertilizers and pesticides can lower the amount of nutrients in the pond.  We can all do our part to prevent ponds from becoming polluted.
SAVE THE DATE for November 11th stormwater pond conference hosted by the Clemson extension.
See  HERE for more information about stormwater ponds.
