Town Administrator's E-Brief

From Town Administrator, Eric DeMoura           Town of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina

October 2019
Dear Mount Pleasant residents and business owners,

2019 is going by quickly and before we know it, the holidays will be here along with all our favorite special events celebrating this wonderful time of the year. Before we get to that point, we will welcome some new council members after the election on November 5th. The new Town Council will be sworn into office and assume their responsibility at the November 12th Town Council meeting. Please join me in thanking Council members Bob Brimmer, Kevin Cunnane and Jim Owens for their dedication to our town. These three council members have opted not to run for re-election and we wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.

In news around the town, we are now accepting applications to the brand new Youth Council. Applications are available online until November 30th. Selected applicants will be contacted for an interview in December for a start date in January 2020. This is a great opportunity and we encourage all high school aged citizens to apply.

There are several other upcoming meetings and events scheduled for the next month, so I invite you to sign up to our Notify Me module and stay updated on the latest Town news, projects, and events. Existing signs will be removed if they are considered redundant or do not meet standards. Additional signs may be added where deemed applicable.

Monthly Stormwater Tip- Litter is Scary, Put it in its Place

Litter is Scary!

What could be more terrifying than litter and garbage clogging our waterways and endangering our beautiful wildlife?! The statement 'Litter Trashes Everyone' couldn't be more true. We want to keep our communities clean and healthy and getting rid of litter is a key part of that. Last year litter cleanup events removed over two tons of litter from our community! But the best way to fight litter is to not do it in the first place! Be mindful of how you dispose of your trash and always recycle when you can. Help put litter in its place!
