Town Administrator's E-Brief

From Town Administrator, Eric DeMoura           Town of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina

September 2018
Dear Mount Pleasant residents and business owners,

We are fortunate to have faired well during Hurricane Florence. On behalf of Mayor Haynie and Town Council, I extend my thoughts and prayers to those who were negatively affected by this storm. And thank you to all the residents and businesses who donated thousands of supplies to send to our neighboring communities still reeling in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence. Members of our Fire and Police Departments have deployed to assist our neighbors as they continue to battle flooding and carry out recovery efforts. Please continue to lend your assistance, if you are able, and remember to support our local business community as we recover from the negative economic impact we experienced from the storm.

Here in Mount Pleasant, we are grateful for our relative good fortune and the great weather we have experienced. The Fall season is packed with some of our favorite events. Please keep reading below to learn about everything we have going on around town.

The capital improvement project will replace about 7,500 signs over the next five years. The Street Sign Replacement Program will include all street signs within the Town, with the exclusion of private roads and sideways. Existing signs will be removed if they are considered redundant or do not meet standards. Additional signs may be added where deemed applicable.

Featured Capital Project of the Month
Darrell Creek Trail Multiuse Path
The Town of Mount Pleasant recently put its final touches on another capital maintenance plan project in the Carolina Park neighborhood.

The new Darrell Creek walking trail is a multi-use path that will provide residents with a safe pedestrian connection to the larger network within Carolina Park.

The trail will link schools, neighborhoods and recreational areas together.

"This project was funded through our bike and pedestrian program established back in 2014, and we're excited to open the trail for our residents and visitors to enjoy," said Kevin Mitchell, a town engineer and project manager for this new addition.
