Girls Basketball defeats Middletown
The Princeton girls varsity basketball team defeated Middletown 65-37 on Wednesday, January 4th at Middletown High School. The Vikings improved to 10-1 overall and 5-1 in the Greater Miami Conference.
Princeton extended its’ 24-20 first-half lead by out-scoring the Middies 22-8 in the third quarter. The Lady Vikings finished the game on a 41-17 scoring run.
Solè Williams led the team with 21 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the floor. Williams finished with 6 steals and 4 rebounds.
Mari Gerton scored 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting. She added 4 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists.
Princeton had 8 assists on 27 made field goals (43.5%).
Kali Fortson had a big game in the paint for the Lady Vikings. She finished with a game-high 11 rebounds, including 8 offensive rebounds. She also scored 6 points, 2 blocks, 2 steals, and 1 assist in the win.
The Lady Vikings defense forced 30 turnovers and recorded 18 steals. Middletown finished the game shooting 31 percent from the floor.
Lady Vikes take away Hamilton's shot
The Princeton girls varsity basketball team defeated Hamilton 81-7 on Saturday, January 7th at Hamilton High School. The Lady Vikings improve to 11-1 overall and 6-1 in the Greater Miami Conference.
Princeton jumped out to a 31-3 first-quarter lead, as 10 different players scored in the win.
Solè Williams led all scorers with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor. She finished with a game-high 6 steals.
The Lady Vikings’ defense finished the game with 27 steals.
La’Sonja Hill scored 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting, and Mari Gerton added 11 points.
Also reaching double-digit scoring was Dede Carter-Hartley. She scored 10 points and had 6 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists, and 1 block shot.
Princeton’s bench finished the game with 26 points. Jaidyn Maiben scored 8 points, while Heaven Sneed and Kesha Francisco added 7 points apiece.
LADY VIKINGS RETURN HOME ON WEDNESDAY - RED OUT VS MASON
The Princeton High School girls basketball program will host the Mason Comets on Wednesday, January 11th at Viking Arena. This game marks a pivotal matchup for the league standings as both sit atop of the conference with Lakota East. Mason defeated Princeton 54-48 in their earlier matchup on November 30th.
We want you in the stands on Wednesday to support our Lady Vikings. It will be a RED OUT and all fans are encouraged to participate. Students that wear their RED RAGE RED OUT shirt will be admitted into the game FREE of charge.
