Coach Braddix named Track & Field Career State Coach of the Year

Congratulations to Coach Darren Braddix on receiving the Fred Dafler Girls Track & Field Career State Coach of the Year for 2023. Coach Braddix will receive his award from the OATCCC on Friday, January 27th.

Junior Micah Cottrell is off to an outstanding start to the wrestling season. He is currently 21-1 on the year, with seven pins. Prior to the holiday break, Micah finished second overall at the 2022 SWOWCA Coaches Classic hosted by Middletown High School. He has won two individual championships in the season.

Congratulations to Micah Cottrell, Solè Williams, Jaiden Arnold, and Sam Green on receiving Greater Miami Conference Athlete of the Week honors.

Micah Cottrell is a junior on the wrestling team. He recently went 5-0 with a pin to win the 2023 Ron Masanek Wrestling Tournament. Micah has won two individual tournaments and currently holds a 21-1 overall record with 7 pins.

Solè Williams is a senior on the girls basketball team. She scored 38 combined points in the team’s wins at Middletown and Hamilton this past week. Solè finished with 6 steals and 4 rebounds in the game against the Middies; and 6 steals and 6 assists in the game against the Big Blue.

Jaiden Arnold is a sophomore on the boys basketball team. In the team’s wins over Oak Hills and Hamilton, Jaiden scored a combined 31 points, had 11 rebounds, 7 assists, and 6 steals. He registered his first double-double in the win at Hamilton.

Sam Green is a junior on the Academic Quiz Team who was instrumental in the Vikings’ matches last week.

Congratulations to Leah Bracknell, Cliff Cass, Heaven Sneed, and Majreona Davis on receiving Jersey Mike's Above & Beyond Athlete of the Week honors.

Leah Bracknell is a senior on the academic quiz team. She is leading the team this season and is one of the captains.

Cliff Cass is a sophomore on the boys' varsity basketball team. His commitment to excellence has helped the team start 3-0.

Heaven Sneed is a freshman on the girls' varsity basketball team. She is making a big contribution to the team.

Majreona Davis is a sophomore on the wrestling team. This past week, Majreona went 2-2 with one pin.

SPRING PICTURE DAY SET - MARCH 13th

Princeton High School and Princeton Community Middle School Spring Athletic Pictures will take place on March 13th after school. Additional details will be shared with coaches and parents as the date approaches.

The Princeton girls bowling team opened up the new year with a home match against Oak Hills on Wednesday, January 4th. The Vikings lost the match 1933-2354.

Sophi Roberts led the team with a 314 series (157 average). Ariana Washington bowled a 278 series, and Camila Couch rolled a 123.5 average in the match.

The Princeton girls bowling team took a step out of league play to bowl against Anderson High School on Tuesday, January 10th. The Lady Vikings defeated the Raptors 1933-1675 at Gilmore Lanes. Princeton improves to 4-3 on the season.

Camila Couch led the team with a 364 series. Her 197 score in game two is a new season high for the junior bowler.

Ariana Washington rolled a 281 series, and Mikayla Maidlow finished with a 129.5 average.

Princeton travels to Crossgate Lanes on Thursday, January 12th, to battle the Sycamore Aviators. Bowling will begin at approximately 3:30 PM.

The Princeton boys bowling team lost to the Oak Hills Highlanders 2129-2582 on Wednesday, January 5th at Gilmore Lanes. 

Kevin Trinh rolled a new series high 360 to lead the Vikings. Michael Yuwono nearly set his new series high, finishing the match with a 353 total.

The Princeton boys bowling team picked up their third win on the season after defeating the Anderson Raptors 2263 to 2258 at Gilmore Lanes on Tuesday, January 10th.

Princeton (3-5) was led by Michael Yuwono. He bowled a new series high, 378. Robert Butler and Kevin Trinh finished the match with a 331 and 330 series total, respectively.

Jack Reynolds and Justin Hernandez knocked down 293 and 289 total pins in the win.

The Vikings travel to Crossgate Lanes on Thursday to battle the Aviators of Sycamore High School. Bowling will begin at approximately 3:30 PM.

The Princeton High School wrestling program traveled to Fairfield High School to compete in the 50th Anniversary of the Ron Masanek Wrestling Invitational.

The Vikings scored 44.5 total points to finish 18th overall.

Junior Micah Cottrell won the 138-pound weight class, finishing the tournament 5-0 over the two-day tournament. Micah improves his record to 21-1 overall and has now won two individual championships on the season.

Josiah Madaris (157 lbs.), Jyren Smith (165 lbs.), and Solomon Smith (190 lbs.) all scored points for the Vikings.

Princeton returns to the mats on Wednesday, January 11th, at Lakota West High School. The Vikings will wrestle Ross and Lakota West beginning at 5:00 PM.

Swim Team

Swimming Vikings set 14 New Personal Best Times against Oak Hills

The Princeton High School swimming program hosted Oak Hills in a dual meet on Tuesday, January 3rd. The Vikings had 14 new personal best times in competition.

Elizabeth Ehlerding dropped 21 seconds in the 100 Yard Butterfly, and Trevor Ehlerding beat his best time in the same event by 19 seconds.

In the 500 Yard Freestyle, Mallory Green dropped 21 seconds to finish in first place. She also set a new personal best (PB) in the 200 Yard Freestyle.

Carly Nagel won in the 50 Yard Freestyle (26.18 seconds) and the 100 Yard Backstroke (1:07.07). 

Also winning individual events were Haley Leach and Max Schutte in the 100 Yard Breaststroke. 

Princeton’s 200 Yard Medley Relay (Burns, Nagel, Ehlerding, Green) won with a time of 2:06.65.

Upcoming Southwest Coaches Swim Classic - January 14th & 15th

Princeton High School will be the site for the swimming prelims of the 2023 Southwest Ohio High School Swimming & Diving Classic this weekend. 

The Preliminaries will begin each morning at 9:00 AM. Tickets are available online only by visiting www.vikenation.org/tickets.

Girls Basketball Schedule Note

A rescheduled date has been finalized for the high school girls basketball game between Princeton and Fairfield. The two teams will play on Monday, January 23rd at Fairfield High School.

Girls Varsity Basketball

Girls Basketball defeats Middletown

The Princeton girls varsity basketball team defeated Middletown 65-37 on Wednesday, January 4th at Middletown High School. The Vikings improved to 10-1 overall and 5-1 in the Greater Miami Conference.

Princeton extended its’ 24-20 first-half lead by out-scoring the Middies 22-8 in the third quarter. The Lady Vikings finished the game on a 41-17 scoring run.

Solè Williams led the team with 21 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the floor. Williams finished with 6 steals and 4 rebounds.

Mari Gerton scored 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting. She added 4 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists.

Princeton had 8 assists on 27 made field goals (43.5%). 

Kali Fortson had a big game in the paint for the Lady Vikings. She finished with a game-high 11 rebounds, including 8 offensive rebounds. She also scored 6 points, 2 blocks, 2 steals, and 1 assist in the win.

The Lady Vikings defense forced 30 turnovers and recorded 18 steals. Middletown finished the game shooting 31 percent from the floor.

Lady Vikes take away Hamilton's shot

The Princeton girls varsity basketball team defeated Hamilton 81-7 on Saturday, January 7th at Hamilton High School. The Lady Vikings improve to 11-1 overall and 6-1 in the Greater Miami Conference.

Princeton jumped out to a 31-3 first-quarter lead, as 10 different players scored in the win.

Solè Williams led all scorers with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor. She finished with a game-high 6 steals.

The Lady Vikings’ defense finished the game with 27 steals.

La’Sonja Hill scored 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting, and Mari Gerton added 11 points.

Also reaching double-digit scoring was Dede Carter-Hartley. She scored 10 points and had 6 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists, and 1 block shot.

Princeton’s bench finished the game with 26 points. Jaidyn Maiben scored 8 points, while Heaven Sneed and Kesha Francisco added 7 points apiece.

LADY VIKINGS RETURN HOME ON WEDNESDAY - RED OUT VS MASON

The Princeton High School girls basketball program will host the Mason Comets on Wednesday, January 11th at Viking Arena. This game marks a pivotal matchup for the league standings as both sit atop of the conference with Lakota East. Mason defeated Princeton 54-48 in their earlier matchup on November 30th.

We want you in the stands on Wednesday to support our Lady Vikings. It will be a RED OUT and all fans are encouraged to participate. Students that wear their RED RAGE RED OUT shirt will be admitted into the game FREE of charge.

The Princeton boys basketball team defeated Oak Hills 69-57 to improve to 5-1 in the Greater Miami Conference. Cliff Cass scored 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the floor.

The Princeton boys basketball team defeated the Hamilton Big Blue 87-77 on Friday, January 6th, at Hamilton High School. The Vikings moved to 6-1 in the Greater Miami Conference.

Keven Adorno scored a team-high 25 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor. He added 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal in the win.

Jaiden Arnold recorded his first double-double, finishing with 15 points and 10 rebounds. 

Princeton’s offense made 26 field goals on 11 assists and finished the game shooting 49 percent. The Vikings knocked down 7-of-19 three-point attempts.

Kaden Stephens led the team with 3 made three-pointers to finish the game with 9 points.

Illijah Adams and Cliff Cass also reached double digits, scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The defense outrebounded Hamilton 35-33 and forced 12 turnovers. Hamilton’s offense was led by Cooper Matthews, who scored 39 points.

The Vikings boys basketball team earned their seventh win in league play after defeating the Lakota West Firebirds 70-39 on Tuesday, January 10th. 

Princeton led 27-18 at the half, and outscored Lakota West 18-5 in the third quarter.

The offense made 26 field goals on 17 assists to finish the game shooting 63 percent from the floor.

Dorian Williams came off the bench to lead all scorers with 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting. He knocked down a season-high 3 three-pointers. The Vikings had a strong showing shooting the basketball from long range. The team connected on 10-of-17 attempts.

Cliff Cass and Riley Woods each scored 12 points in the win. Cass grabbed down 6 total rebounds, and Woods dished out 4 assists.

Keven Adorno added 5 assists and 6 rebounds to go along with his 9 points.

Defensively, Princeton forced 16 turnovers and recorded 10 steals.The limited the Firebirds to 4-of-12 shooting from behind the arc.

Illijah Adams had a season-high 3 blocks in the game. Princeton finished with 5 block shots and won the battle of the boards, 24-17.

Princeton returns to Viking Arena on Friday, January 13th. The Vikings will host the Thunderhawks of Lakota East High School. Game day tickets are available online only by visiting www.vikenation.org/tickets.

The Princeton golf program will hold an information night on Tuesday, January 31st at 6:30 PM. This is a great opportunity to meet the coaches, receive conditioning, golf camp information, and additional team details as the Fall season approaches.

All 6th through 11th graders interested in golf are encouraged to attend with their parents. The meeting will be held in the Princeton High School Viking Room.

Princeton Golf Camp - June 6-9th

The Princeton Golf Program will hold a Viking Golf Camp for incoming 4th to 9th graders at the Tri-County Golf Ranch on June 6-9th. The camp will be led by Princeton golf coaches and current golfers. It is designed for Princeton students that would like to learn about golf and may have an interest in playing on the middle school and high school teams.

Coach Andy Short and staff will hold a Girls High School Lacrosse Parent/Player Meeting on Thursday, January 26th in the High School Viking Room. The meeting will begin at 6:00 PM.

On Sunday, the Princeton Girls Water Polo team got together for a fun match between the parents and players. In a highly competitive and fun match, Team Parents edged out the Lady Vikings! Thank you to all the parents, athletes, and staff members that made this event possible.
