Micah Cottrell, Princeton – He won the 138-pound weight class at the Charlie Moore Invitational, defeating his final opponent by a 3-2 decision.

Greater Miami Conference

Athletes of the Week

Congratulations to Elizabeth Ehlerding, Mari Gerton, Elizabeth Marcotte, Josiah Madaris, and Max Schutte on being named Greater Miami Conference Athlete of the Week honors.


Elizabeth Ehlerding is a junior on the swim team. She improved her 100-yard butterfly time from 1:31.07 (last season) to 1:09.34 at the Oak Hills dual meet on Tuesday.


Mari Gerton is a sophomore on the girls' basketball team. She scored 37 points, 15 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists during last week’s games. Mari was named game MVP this past Saturday after scoring 20 points.


Elizabeth Marcotte is a junior on the Academic Quiz Team. She led the Vikings in the number of correct answers in both matches against Hamilton last week.


Josiah Madaris is a sophomore on the wrestling team. He finished 4-1 at the Charlie Moore Wrestling Tournament with 4 total pins.


Max Schutte is a sophomore on the swim team. He posted a 1:09.97 time in the 100-yard breaststroke, which beat his previous best (1:14.72) last season. Max finished 6th overall at the Princeton Invite.

Greater Miami Conference Athlete of the Week Honors


Congratulations to Micah Cottrell, Solè Williams, Jaiden Arnold, and Sam Green on receiving Greater Miami Conference Athlete of the Week Honors.


Micah Cottrell is a junior on the wrestling team. He recently went 5-0 with a pin to win the 2023 Ron Masanek Wrestling Tournament. Micah has won two individual tournaments and currently holds a 21-1 overall record with 7 pins.


Solè Williams is a senior on the girls basketball team. She scored 38 combined points in the team’s wins at Middletown and Hamilton this past week. Sole’ finished with 6 steals and 4 rebounds in the game against the Middies, and 6 steals and 6 assists in the game against the Big Blue.


Jaiden Arnold is a sophomore on the boys basketball team. In the team’s wins over Oak Hills and Hamilton, Jaiden scored a combined 31 points, had 11 rebounds, 7 assists, and 6 steals. He registered his first double-double in the win at Hamilton.


Sam Green, a junior on the Academic Quiz Team, was instrumental in the Vikings’ matches last week.

Jersey Mike's Above and Beyond Athlete of the Week Honor

Congratulations to our girls bowling team and cheer team on receiving Jersey Mike’s Above and Beyond Team of the Week honors.


The Lady Vikings Varsity Bowling Team had a strong showing at the Lancer Baker Bash on Saturday. Princeton bowled 16 Baker games in the qualifying round. The Lady Vikings lost to Mason in a best of 3 format of Baker games.


The Varsity Cheerleaders have worked hard this season both on and off the court. The team puts continuous hours in the weight room, practices weekly, and keeps up with their academic responsibilities. They are a fan favorite at games and continue to showcase the passion that is Princeton.

SPRING PICTURE DAY SET - MARCH 13th


Princeton High School and Princeton Community Middle School Spring Athletic Pictures will take place on March 13th after school. Additional details will be shared with coaches and parents as the date approaches.

Congratulations to Coach Darren Braddix on receiving the Fred Dafler Girls Track & Field Career State Coach of the Year for 2023. Coach Braddix will receive his award from the OATCCC on Friday, January 27th.

All home regular season athletic tickets may be purchased online by visiting www.vikenation.org/tickets. The Princeton Athletic Department offers Sports Passes for Students, Adults, and Families. We encourage you to take advantage of this ticket option to save you money all school year. Passes are valid for all 7th-12th grade HOME regular season contests during the entire school year.

Swim Team

The Princeton Vikings swim team hosted the Colerain Cardinals on Tuesday, January 17th. The AquaVikes defeated the Cardinals with a combined score of 374-142, and set eight new personal best times.


The girls team scored 242 total team points. The Lady Vikings won the 200 Yard Medley Relay (2:08.47) followed by junior Carly Nagel’s first-place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle. She finished with a time of 2:07.92, which was 4 seconds faster than her previous best time.


Carly Nagel placed second in the 100 Yard Backstroke (1:07.93).


In the 200 Yard IM, Lauren Burns and Jenna Hutchens finished in second and third place, respectively. Lauren Burns would later win the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:46.52.


Also winning an individual race for the Lady Vikings was Ava Hettinger in the 50 Yard Freestyle, Elizabeth Ehlerding in the 100 Yard Butterfly, and Haley Leach in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.


Just like the beginning of the meet, the Lady Vikings won the final relay, 400 Yard Freestyle with a time of 4:04.99.


On the boys side, Princeton scored 132 points. Seth Finnerty won the first individual event for the Vikings in the 200 Yard Freestyle. It was then followed by a first place finish in the 200 Yard IM by Max Schutte, and a first place finish by Brannum Shaver in the 50 Yard Freestyle.


Princeton’s Kyle Moore and William Essen finished in second and third place in the 50 Yard Freestyle.


Trevor Ehlerding set a new personal best time in the 100 Yard Butterfly (1:08.12) on his way to a first place finish. 


Brannum Shaver picked up another first place finish in the 100 Yard Freestyle. Kyle Moore and William Essen finished in second and third place. William Essen’s time of 1:14.33 was a new personal best time, beating his old time by 1.68 seconds.


In the 500 Yard Freestyle event, Seth Finnerty won with a time of 5:43.43. Max Schutte won the 100 Yard Breaststroke, and the Vikings 400 Yard Freestyle Relay won with a time of 4:05.27.

Girls Basketball Schedule Note

A rescheduled date has been finalized for the high school girls basketball game between Princeton and Fairfield. The two teams will play on Monday, January 23rd at Fairfield High School.

Girls Varsity Basketball


The Princeton girls basketball team bounced back from their one-point loss at the buzzer to Mason on Wednesday to defeat King’s Christian (Canada) 52-41 on Saturday, January 14th. Princeton moves to 12-2 overall.


Sophomore Mari Gerton was named MVP of the game after leading the team with 20 points. She knocked down 3-of-6 three-point attempts and was a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line. Gerton added 6 rebounds and 1 assist.


Kali Fortson set a new season high with 14 rebounds. She added 6 points and 1 steal.


Also scoring double digits was Dede Carter-Hartley with 14 points and 7 rebounds.


The Lady Vikings finished the game shooting 34 percent from the floor, and the defense forced 18 turnovers.


Princeton travels to Sycamore High School on Wednesday, January 18th.

The Princeton golf program will hold an information night on Tuesday, January 31st at 6:30 PM. This is a great opportunity to meet the coaches, receive conditioning, golf camp information, and additional team details as the Fall season approaches.


All 6th through 11th graders interested in golf are encouraged to attend with their parents. The meeting will be held in the Princeton High School Viking Room.

Princeton Golf Camp - June 6-9th


The Princeton Golf Program will hold a Viking Golf Camp for incoming 4th to 9th graders at the Tri-County Golf Ranch on June 6-9th. The camp will be led by Princeton golf coaches and current golfers. It is designed for Princeton students that would like to learn about golf and may have an interest in playing on the middle school and high school teams.

Girls High School Lacrosse

Coach Andy Short and staff will hold a Girls High School Lacrosse Parent/Player Meeting on Thursday, January 26th in the High School Viking Room. The meeting will begin at 6:00 PM.
