The Princeton Vikings swim team hosted the Colerain Cardinals on Tuesday, January 17th. The AquaVikes defeated the Cardinals with a combined score of 374-142, and set eight new personal best times.
The girls team scored 242 total team points. The Lady Vikings won the 200 Yard Medley Relay (2:08.47) followed by junior Carly Nagel’s first-place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle. She finished with a time of 2:07.92, which was 4 seconds faster than her previous best time.
Carly Nagel placed second in the 100 Yard Backstroke (1:07.93).
In the 200 Yard IM, Lauren Burns and Jenna Hutchens finished in second and third place, respectively. Lauren Burns would later win the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:46.52.
Also winning an individual race for the Lady Vikings was Ava Hettinger in the 50 Yard Freestyle, Elizabeth Ehlerding in the 100 Yard Butterfly, and Haley Leach in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.
Just like the beginning of the meet, the Lady Vikings won the final relay, 400 Yard Freestyle with a time of 4:04.99.
On the boys side, Princeton scored 132 points. Seth Finnerty won the first individual event for the Vikings in the 200 Yard Freestyle. It was then followed by a first place finish in the 200 Yard IM by Max Schutte, and a first place finish by Brannum Shaver in the 50 Yard Freestyle.
Princeton’s Kyle Moore and William Essen finished in second and third place in the 50 Yard Freestyle.
Trevor Ehlerding set a new personal best time in the 100 Yard Butterfly (1:08.12) on his way to a first place finish.
Brannum Shaver picked up another first place finish in the 100 Yard Freestyle. Kyle Moore and William Essen finished in second and third place. William Essen’s time of 1:14.33 was a new personal best time, beating his old time by 1.68 seconds.
In the 500 Yard Freestyle event, Seth Finnerty won with a time of 5:43.43. Max Schutte won the 100 Yard Breaststroke, and the Vikings 400 Yard Freestyle Relay won with a time of 4:05.27.
