Archbishop Wood Alumnus, Fran Dolan '10 made his very first gift to Archbishop Wood's Viking Fund. On top of this, Fran also pledged to give every year from here on out to Wood's Viking Fund.

Archbishop Wood High School has certainly made a lasting impact on Dr. Dolan. During his time at Wood, Fran was involved in Mathletes, Student Council, Medical Careers, Community Service Corps, Basketball, and so much more. Most recently, in mid December, after graduating from Temple University's School of Dentistry, Dr. Dolan opened his own Dental Practice (Dolan Dental) right here in our backyard of Warminster, PA.

We are so grateful for alumni like Fran who exude the Viking Spirit, both during their time at Wood and beyond. It is alumni like Fran that further our mission of sustainability and directly help keep Archbishop Wood's doors open for all the future Viking families who desire a Catholic education.

*Pictured here is Dr. Dolan with Archbishop Wood's Major Gift Officer, Regan Gallagher ('16) after her visit to his office.

Thank you Dr. Francis Dolan for your generous contribution to Wood's Viking Fund - you are a shining example of the importance of philanthropy when it comes to your alma mater!

Archbishop Wood is very excited to announce a new elective course called “Fundamentals of Real Estate!” Class of 1982 alumnus, John Iannarelli, who has been presenting Real Estate seminars to Wood students throughout the year, has created and will be presenting this course for future business leaders.

“Fundamentals of Real Estate” will be an elective course for Wood Seniors. 25 students have signed up already! If you are the parent of a rising Wood student, please tell your child of this amazing opportunity to learn about Real Estate.

All of us at AWHS wish to thank John Iannarelli for sharing his time and talent with his alma mater and advancing the school's Tradition of Excellence for the Leaders of Tomorrow!

Course description: 6701 Fundamentals of Real Estate Elective (1 Cr, HL, Grade 12) Note: Space is limited. Office of Academic Affairs reserves the right to cap enrollment. The world of real estate offers many exciting careers and opportunities for the informed, prepared, and professionally mentored students. It is an applicable course for any student who may someday purchase a home, invest in property, or even decide to pursue the real estate business after high school. The goal for this course is for students to understand the world of real estate so that they can use that knowledge and apply it in their own lives after high school. Students will be challenged to think big, start small, and to develop the necessary skills and habits to create their future world in real estate.

Brad Fox Day 5K/1K

This year Archbishop Wood will host the 10th Annual Officer Brad Fox 5K Run / 1K Walk on Saturday, April 30, 2022 to honor the Warminster native and USMC Veteran who was killed in the line of duty in September 2012 working as a K-9 Officer with the Plymouth Township Police Department.

Since its inception, the Officer Brad Fox 5K Foundation has distributed approximately $450,000 to select charities, primarily through this annual event in Brad's honor.

“We’re honored and excited that Wood once again opened its campus to us so that we could honor Brad on the road that bears his name. This is a great partnership between our foundation, the Warminster community and the Wood family. Bringing our event to Wood so that we can run it on Brad’s road,” Event Director, Darren Meehan (’92) said.

Runners and walkers who register before the deadline will receive a commemorative bag, including a race t-shirt, drinkware, and finisher’s prize.

To register for the 5K run or 1K walk, visit www.bradfoxday.com

vocations.jpg

Our Junior Theology classes had guest speakers visit at the end of March to talk about vocations.

Wood Alumnus and Seminarian, Declan Cole (‘17) was among the group of special guests.

It was wonderful to witness the gentle conversation held between the students and Declan as he spoke about his personal experience and calling.

Declan did a wonderful job teaching about how choosing a life of vocation works, while also answering many of our students questions and debunking the myths of joining the priesthood.

Thank you to Seminarian, Declan Cole and special shout out to Fr. Dave Friel (‘03) for your help in coordinating todays special visit with our Theology Department.

StuCo.jpg

The Student Council, in coordination with St. Anne's Church, collected medical supplies and equipment, baby necessities and formula, hygiene supplies, socks, blankets and towels to send to the Ukraine.

This was a community collection and our students and families, along with Mary, Mother of the Redeemer parish, truly overwhelmed us with generosity. The StuCo and their parents made a caravan trip on Sunday, March 20th to St. Anne's to drop off our collection.

We are so grateful to everyone who donated and helped and we will continue to pray for the people in Ukraine.

It is always heartwarming when our teachers receive messages from our Viking parents. Pictured here is AWHS Junior, Tiara Reed at this past weekend's Archdiocesan Art Exhibit.

"Thank you so much for encouraging Tiara in her art work, she loves your class, all she talks about is her art work...Thank you!" - Tiara's mother, Jennifer Reed.

Tiara also participates in the AWHS Baking Club and has most recently been working with her teachers and the administration to start up AWHS's very first "Anime Art Club."

Tiara is an excellent example of the diverse talents, abilities, & interests of the Archbishop Wood student body & we could not be more proud to celebrate it!

Mrs. Morton’s 4th period HL Algebra 2 students spent class celebrating Pi Day with our favorites from Our Lady of Confidence students. They enjoyed the food and spent time working on a Pi Day activity together!

SYMPOSIUM.jpg

Students in Ms. Morris’ AP Language and Composition class held an Education Symposium where they played the roles of experts in different aspects of Education.

The students were responsible for researching each expert’s arguments, presenting a speech, and answering questions while staying in character.

Experts who were present included Carol Ann Tomlinson, Diane Ravitch, and Nikole Hannah-Jones amongst others.

BIOLOGY.jpg

We popped into Ms. McLaughlin's Biology class! The students were working on an open investigation inquiry, where they are studying the rate of photosynthesis.

Students each picked their own variable to study and then applied their findings to global warming, pollution, biofuel, and agriculture.
